I forgot BlueSky exists again… not sure how to manage it.

JD Dunce yelling at Zelenskyy “we know that you are wrong” is the level of crass ignorance I expect of him and DT, but it’s still embarrassing.

Of course I am taking this personally. "Ethnic rivalries of old" indeed. Stupendous willful ignorance. If you voted for this sorry excuse for a human being and his sorrier boss, shame on you. I am an American and I know that standing up for Ukraine IS in our best interests, too. How do you not?

Yes but you see, Charles III is also technically in charge of Canada and Australia and NZ and more…

If the U. S. is going to have a king I would rather have Charles III. At least that monarchy is constitutional.

At this point, I am much less concerned about China supposedly getting private and/or state data though TikTok than I am about Elon Musk actually getting private and/or state data by directly accessing the government servers.

In 2023, I did a TEDx on education vs Indoctrination and I desperately wish I did a better job and reached more people. But in case anyone needs the difference, here it is:

Oh. I’m going to use this now. “The dailiness of life.” Back to sorting out the garage, then. Since unlike the heroine here, I don’t have servants to supervise and a steward to consult.
Black on white, a quote from Katharine Kerr: “The dailiness of her life eventually drew her back from her despair.”

If you don’t believe that Earth is roundish, it doesn’t make the Earth flat. If you don’t believe sех is not binary, it doesn’t make a variety of intersex people disappear. If you don’t believe Tate, Rogan, and the like are harmful to you, it doesn’t make them safe.

Never have I expected this language in a government memo rather than a MAGA rally: “The use of Federal resources to advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies is a waste of taxpayer dollars that does not improve the day-to-day lives of those we serve.”

Again, what a nincompoop. No one says Zelensky is perfect. He did many things wrong — but what he did not do is INVADE UKRAINE. Only bullies and abusers blame victims for being abused.

Otherwise, you supposed intent means absolutely nothing. Meanwhile, this is the opposite of decent human behavior in this situation. So kindly stop apologizing for him. He isn’t sorry. He won’t apologize. His behavior is garbage.

So you don’t think Elon meant to act like a Nazi? Intent vs impact. If you don’t mean to act like one, but perform their special behavior because you meant something else, and even they recognize it… well, acknowledging this and humbly apologizing for the impact can help.

For the love of whatever you care about, STOP encouraging Elon’s apologists to “do it.” You know that some of them will. And that’s when they learn that they can. And then I’ll have to keep seeing it. Please, enough. Stop sharing that TikTok. Stop asking for more Nazis.

I used Twitter today.
Going to enter this cesspool just for this:
Autism has nothing to do with the cesspool owner's "exuberant gesture," because autism doesn't have "aspiring to be a n@zi" as a symptom. And this isn't just about the Jewish people. This is bad for everyone. Even those of you fawning.

“Thanks to President Trump’s efforts” TikTok was banned, preemptively and performative shut down, and faux-restored. If you think this isn’t a big deal, do you even think?

“But did you see the problems 30 years ago?” Oh dear, 30 years ago I was in the process of becoming a refugee and dealing with my dad and grandmother dying in the middle of it. And then I was focused on staying far away from that looked like Soviet systems. For reasons.

If you see scary patterns in current political situation that parallel historical patterns you know about, it’s not because you’re neurodivergent. It’s because you probably read books/saw movies/actually paid attention in history class. The writing on the wall isn’t subtle, it’s in huge red letters.

There is also a lot of discussion of harm to children in the piece, so beware of that as well. No, there isn’t a conviction — but public opinion isn’t actually a court, and there is enough to believe the victims. I do. (3/3)

I knew I can do it, but my trauma didn’t result in PTSD and I have an acquired ability to cope with this. You absolutely shouldn’t go there if you suspect it will retraumatize you. Enough of us will see without you hurting yourself. (2/3)

Neil Gaiman, “There is no safe word” article. I had to pause at the bathtub scene, because personal history and such. If you have SA history, you might not want to read the piece. However. The victim is telling the story for us to bear witness. I came back and did that. (1/3)

With multiple relatives and friends evacuated in Los Angeles area, and so many people in danger, I hope everyone heeds the warnings and stays safe. This is so devastating to experience for all those affected.

I see people deleting FB/IG. I am not keen on that, because once again we are ceding territory to MAGA without a fight, and destroying years of community building in the process. “But the money,” you say? Don’t click on any ads, don’t buy anything. And sorry, but don’t subscribe to accounts either.

Yes, DT is sort of like that — but The Wizard actually does have technical skills. He just misused them for self-aggrandizement.

I’m seeing a lot of comparisons of the #Wicked world to the US today, with The Wizard // The Donald, but I think he’s more of an Elon. He is all about clever tricks + taking credit for the work of others, while being admired for benevolence.

Now, though I know many don’t celebrate anymore, I am preparing an “everyone’s favorites” feast. Because our gratitude remains, with full acknowledgment of the injustices done to the indigenous people. And still, despite the horrid election outcome, the U. S. is a desired refuge for many.(2/2)

So, #Thanksgiving… I arrived into the U.S. as a refugee 30 yeasrs ago, on November 11th, with my mom and her father. So from the get go, Thanksgiving for us was a day of gratitude for being here. The supposed history of it seemed iffy, but we didn’t understand the details until later. (1/2)

Do you also think that podcast bros offer good advice?
200
Dr. Inna Kanevsky, Ph. D. @dr-inna.bsky.social · 27/11/2024
Yes, like that — or sharing “facts” that are not factual, or “relatable” content that is misleading, or misrepresenting correlations as causes. That’s mostly what I deal with.

Dr. Inna Kanevsky, Ph. D. @dr-inna.bsky.social · 27/11/2024
Thank you! Psychology misinformation is usually promoted by people who think it’s real and share with good intentions of helping others. So simply being interested in psychology or mental health easily exposes one to misguided content.

Absolutely. Writing down a bunch of platitudes is much more profound than conducting research studies in a difficult filed and attempting to summarize the results for the public. Makes a reader feel smart, too.

I feel this. I give open notes, unlimited time tests in my college classes. On a recent Psych 101 midterm, there were 44 questions. Numerous students got less than 20 correct. Two got 10. Yet the highest result was 43.
