D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 30/09/2026I don't know, I feel like if you're able to do that last one you should be able to, lol I saw this one in at a country store in Oregon… 110

D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 22/09/2026Thank you! The F-102 and DC-3 are both at my Museum, the open cockpit one is at The Western Antique Aviation and Automobile Museum (WAAAM) in Hood River, OR :-) I took this there, and I love that this scene could've happened sy any time in the last 90 or so years! www.waaamuseum.org 010
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 08/09/2026That'd be the Amiga A1200 for me. I still remember saving up $600 to upgrade it with a 68030 CPU and FPU running at 50mhz, along with 8MB of. RAM, jumping it from 2MB to 10MB! Did you see they launched an updated Commodore 64? commodore.net/computer/?sk... 190
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 08/09/2026Awesome! I always loved their livery too :-) And, speaking of DC-10's… 000
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 05/09/2026As I hold the Suspicious Mushroom in my hand and stare at it, a bright light appears unfold itself in middair. Words in a strange tongue whisper by, touching something deep inside me. The light dissappears with a snap, but the mushroom now appears to be glowing from within. 230
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 04/09/2026Grew up in California on the Central Coast, went to school in Santa Barbara with friends and relatives throughout SoCal. I then worked in the Bay Area before moving to Portland so, yeah, this math is matching, lol 110
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 03/09/2026"No risk, no reward," I say through tears while putting together a PowerPoint of me and Mortimer visiting the best caves Middle Earth has to offer. Fun fact: our selfie with the Balrog was one of the last pictures taken with it! (setting this one to Ring of Fire) 1122
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 02/09/2026It was the legit forbidden pitcher. Basically something like this, but made out of corrugated metal, and with a uranium liner on the inside. I don't remember if they had removed the uranium liner or not, but the thing itself was original. 291
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 01/09/2026Adding this video I got when I happened to look back for Mt Hood, and saw the nearly full moon lighting up the clouds we were flying past. Another few seconds and I would've missed it! I added dramatic music, because the neither silence nor a crystal ng baby seemed right die the mood. 031
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 01/09/2026Nice! I enjoyed a lovely airplane dusk a couple days ago, with what I think was Venus too :-) 020

D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026And then they just kept right on going, sun at their back all the way to PDX. Their flying was top notch, and it was great seeing them from such a unique perspective. Thanks for tagging along, and yes, I do have more to add to Lucky Post 13 later ;-) 20/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 122
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026I honestly thought that last shot was them departing after ending their practice session. I didn't see them returning until they were almost on me. If I'd seen them sooner, I could've gotten directly underneath as they passed! 19/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 032
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026And, speaking of filling the frame, the five remaining went by so low and so fast that I wasn't able to zoom out fast enough to get them all in frame. This is a great view of just how big and sleek they are too :-) 18/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 022
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026I love the colors on this one too, but because the original was so muted because of the lighting of the moment, I could oversaturate this in GIMP, giving it an old post feel to it. They were low enough that they filled the frame on my 300mm telephoto! 17/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 041
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026This is closing in on the end of their practice, when I've seen them do a six plane formation, basically in a triangle. here there is five of them in a V-formation. At some point #5 left the practice session, and did not return, but I don't know why. 16/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 031
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026Another hard break, with 2 going left and 2 going right. The turns are hard enough that the air over the wings gets compressed enough to squeeze the moisture out into little mini clouds, ie, vapor trails! It's very distinct against their blue paint :-) 15/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 021
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026One of the fun things about the Blue Angel's performances are when they break their Diamond Formation in a bunch of different directions. Here they're all pulling away from each other hard enough to create vapor trails on their wings! 14/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 021
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026This is another four ship echelon formation, and I like that I could get a shot of them without any smoke too. A lot of aviation words, like echelon, come from French because France took to aviation with a passion early on, while the US' stalled. 13A/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 021
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026The Blue Angels do several maneuvers with five of them in line a abreast formation, so they are all at the same altitude and literally next to each other in a row. I love how the colors came out on this one too! 12/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 021
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026Another great view of the Diamond Formation passing overhead. Number One is the Lead of the formation and calls out the maneuver and formation as they do it. Two and Three are on the left and right, and Number Four is in the slot position. 11/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 041
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026They returned back in the Diamond Formation, and this shot is a great view of why it's called that. There's one behind and below each of the Lead's wingtips, with the fourth immediately behind and below the Lead too. 10/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 012
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026Back for a few more! They came by so close, and so fast, that I didn't have time to get all 4 in frame! I love that most of the formations used in flying date to WWI, and that for as long as we've been flying, we've been wanting to fly together :-) 9/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 031
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026The happiest of accidents! One of the Opposing Soloists was demonstrating the incredible Cobra Maneuver, popping up to a vertical climb and then leveling off higher up, when I caught a passing Amazon Prime 767 passing through in the far distance. 8/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 041
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026Another great view of their F/A-18 Super Hornets in their "Dirty" configuration as they head slowly fly past in close formation. There was a lot of direct sun in between cloud cover, leading to some dramatic, and wildly different lighting. 7/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 011
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026After flying bast, the Diamond formation returned, flying towards us in their dirty configuration. They were fairly far away, but you could still easily spot them because of their landing lights. I love how the trees helped frame this too! 6/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 021
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026The previous four shots were my favorite from the day, but the rest I'm posting chronologically for ease, and because trying to rank them further was breaking my brain, lol Here's the Diamond Formation in knife edge, immediately after arriving :-) 5/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 022
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026The Opposing Soloists get their name because, well, they literally fly right at each other! Sort of. They do fly at each other, but each is along a different side of the runway for separation. Here you can almost see that through the smoke. 4/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 031
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026Blue Angels 1-4 aren't always in the Diamond Formation, but they do focus on demonstrating formation and precision. I love this shot of them approaching behind the tree line, almost silhouetted in the sun, in line abreast formation. 3/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 031
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026Blue Angel airshows, broadly, have two parts. The Diamond formation, Blue Angels 1-4, and the Opposing Soloists, numbers 5 and 6. Here are the Opposing Soloists mirroring each in a "dirty configuration" with gear and tailhooks down. 2/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 051
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 17/08/2026I snuck out of work early Thursday to get some shots of the Blue Angel's practice session from a turnout on a little country road close to the McMinville runway's centerline. This is my favorite of the lot, and one of my best pics every, IMHO 1/20 #AvGeek #BlueAngels #Planespotting #EASM 2132

D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 13/08/2026I saw a meme like this back in the day so had to recreate it :-) (I kept the label to avoid spoilers) 000
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 10/08/2026This was soooo tempting! I even would've named my lad Linus! 120
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 04/08/2026My brother and I would play with the cigarette vending machine at our regular family restaurant while waiting. You could pull on the knobs all you wanted since nothing happened unless you paid. Then, one morning a carton did vend, startling the hell out of us 🤣🤣🤣 0100
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 03/08/2026@bwjones.bsky.social A bit of an awkward shot before the late could change, but had to share this beauty of a Porsche. You know more than I do about it, lol, and while it didn't look pristine, it did look likes it's driven on the regular and is very well loved :-) 140
D. Paul Angel @dpaulangel.com · 03/08/2026I saw this and could've sworn that I ate there while I was at the AF Museum in Dayton. When I looked it up though, it turns out that was Mr. Shawarma and Grill! (Pic from their Google Maps page) 010
