Rival colonies in Broodgarden used to just fight. Now they trade, buy off stronger neighbours, and once they've researched it, try to stir up discord in your own nest. Break a weaker one and a sharp rival takes it as a vassal instead of crushing it. #indiedev

"A bird swooped and snatched a forager!" Broodgarden tells you what happened to your ants, not what your statistics did. One ant, named, gone — and the line that says so is the same width as the one about the nest getting filthy. #indiedev #strategy

End of October still works — Halloween assets get grabbed well past the month itself, especially by anyone building off-season or year-round.

Biomass rules. Maybe you can be an evil nanotech fungi creeping through the soil, battling native species, using vegatation as food and doing mind control on the critters. Take over enough of the planet and turn it into a giant interplanetary spore shooter shroom to start again :D

The other half of Broodgarden is above ground. The nest is where the fungus is farmed and the brood is raised. The garden is where the food comes from — and where the other colonies are. #indiedev #strategy
Broodgarden's garden view: a cluster of hexagonal tiles above ground, the nest entrance at the centre, with foragers, a ladybird, dew drops, seeds and flowering tiles spreading outwards across bare soil.

A place in Salt and Honey is a stage, not a menu. Everything you can do stands somewhere in the picture — the brambles, the salt pans, the oven, the bench, the way out. People stand in it too, and you walk over to them. Artwork, not a screenshot. #indiedev #cozygames

Salt and Honey is a quiet game about a cold English coast in late autumn. A village called Brackenmouth, a few people who live there, and work that pays slowly. Detectorists rather than fantasy. Artwork, not a screenshot. #indiedev #cozygames

Yes but food doesn't last forever. It goes off. So making kinds that last longer is important to make it through the winter months.

Moving from C to Godot is a big workflow jump. Did the systems from Ender Lands port over cleanly or need a rewrite?

Tough choice. Lava is more dramatic but ice is more insidious. Either can creep in and kill you. Probably ice as making heat comes as a byproduct of industry so it begs the player for growth and development.

Yes. Every new mouth needs feeding but efficiency boosts from upgrades, research, spells and moots (government decisions) means you have more food left over for other production such as luxuries with much better export value.

That's a good solution. You can smooth it over wider margin on the most different biomes then if needed.

Havermill Common is a valley whose town is the customer. Everything above what the village keeps goes out on the day's carts, and that is the only money you make. Feed it, and it grows into whatever you built. #indiedev #citybuilder

The dial in Wrayness Pier has no green zone, no marked middle and no percentage. Each machine carries its own fair norm — about 72% back on a pusher, a 12% win rate on a claw. Patrons judge against it. You never see it. #indiedev #tycoon

Wrayness Pier is a British seaside arcade that has to earn its rent honestly. Every machine has a dial. Tighten it and you take more per go. Tighten it too far and people stop coming back — and nothing on screen tells you where the line is. #indiedev #tycoon

That post is out of date, sorry. Turning the emulation off froze Godot's dropdowns on phones, so it went back on. It's still the one mouse path, fed by the finger. And we don't tell a tap from a drag yet: a press acts where it lands. You've found a real gap.

20 classes under 5 roles is a nice ratio, keeps the tactical reads clear without needing to memorise every unit. How's the spawner deciding what to throw at the player's current mix?

Nice setup for a storm. Are you driving the lightning flash off the directional light itself or layering it as a shader overlay? Godot's environment lighting makes weather like this look great, but getting the timing against thunder audio right is always fiddly.

Vertex lighting on low-poly models still looks great - nice that it's a runtime blend rather than baked in. Does it cause any seams when meshes swap LODs?

Every direct action in War of Inches — bombs, freezes, repairs, choosing a node, ordering a unit — hung off one mouse branch. A finger only reached it through emulation, the same emulation that makes every tap fire twice. So the battlefield now reads touch itself. #indiedev #rts

Supertiles with join/extend fallbacks is the right call — straight room-grid gen always breaks the moment you need an odd connector. Our own valley gen hit the same wall.

A colony in Broodgarden can drown in its own food. Chambers grant capacity, and anything past the cap is lost — so a good forage with nowhere to put it is waste. Build the store before you need it. #indiedev #strategy
