He embraced the UPA style and understood how to make these designs work within limited animation. He was one of the artists who gave the studio its identity in the early years. 424566

D.Inkwell @downinkwell.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Fun fact: Dave Spafford animated Daffy and Bugs in their respective, iconic scenes in the movie. According to Dave, Peter Schneider reprehended him for the Daffy sequence ("he moves too much"), so Dave went in the opposite direction with Bugs by not having him move at all, lol 091

D.Inkwell @downinkwell.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I kinda find Bob McKimson's art direction during the 1950s oddly endearing. It's not as sharp or as well-defined as Jones and Freleng, but there's a weird charm about him trying to understand the UPA art-style 0124

D.Inkwell @downinkwell.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Y'know, this got me thinking...I know this would've been impossible as hell (and expensive), but how much more awesome it would've been to have guest animators/cartoonists handle a Looney Tunes short? D.Inkwell @downinkwell.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Looney Tunes were essentially made for all ages. Adults, kids, and the cartoonists who were making them. Even within the limitations of the Hays Code at the time, the animators had to be subversive and clever with their mature gags 0100
