I know most of you guys don't go on the other app but the pope posted an anti AI/ pro artists statement yesterday, and the ensuing cope and memes is really funny

Pope Leo XIV
@Pontifex

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

2016: I will never fight a holy war

2019: Pope Leo I am ready launch me towards the nearest data center

some AI guy saying he makes christian children's books with AI asking the pope if that is ok then and someone posting a meme react with the pope holding a baseball bat saying 'did I stutter'

I really hate my sleep schedule. I went to bed early because of a serious headache then woke up around 11 and haven't gone back to sleep since

Is it wrong of me to hate it when people ask for a "follow for follow"? It just feels like a transaction to me. I'd rather not gain followers by transaction. I want people to follow me because they like who I am/what I do, not because they feel obligated to.

Person: Do you want to commission me? Me: No, I cannot afford it. Person: I assure you, my rates ars affordable! Me: I literally live paycheck to paycheck, so no. Person: We can just start with a 10 dollar down payment and then you pay the rest over time! Me: NO!!!

OH. right! i get it now!

i get why AI is so depressing to me. because covid already shrunk my world to almost nothing, where almost all of my life revolves around socializing and watching videos on the internet (which is being ruined by AI) and creating creative works through coding (which is being ruined by AI), often using open source tools and libraries (which are being ruined by AI)

i already had so little and now even that is being rotted away before my eyes

Biggest turn off for me with carrying out a conversation with someone is them suddenly going "btw I do art here are some examples" only to send me AI generated images.

Hey guys, if you're gonna share that one meme I made like a million years ago on Tumblr, share the original, not the horrible auto-smoothed traced version. Don't smooth out my angry, "it's 11 at night and I have FEELINGS ABOUT ART" hand wobbles, they're part of the piece!

A watercolor painting of the city of Tuliyollal from FFXIV Dawntrail. It is viewed from out at sea. We can see inside one of the inn rooms with the shore and city behind. From the wooden platform of the inn, my wol is joyously leaping into the water while carrying Stephanivien.

I really wish it was against the law to smoke at a drive thru window. It hurts to breathe when someone is smoking at my window. And I cannot just tell them to not smoke, even tho is it negatively impacting my health.
