Fragment with a Musical Angel (Frammento con Angelo Musicante), Pietro de Bonitate (14th century), Regional Museum of Messina, Sicily, Italy

“Laurana’s style became widely adopted—as seen in the *Fragment with a Musical Angel* attributed to Pietro de Bonitate. De Bonitate was a collaborator of Laurana and the creator of the Cathedral portal (executed in 1468); he followed the design of Baboccio da Piperno—a sculptor active within the circle of the Angevin-Durazzo dynasty in Naples. Our fragment may well originate from that same milieu, as it demonstrates an adherence to Gothic models despite the structural approach derived from Laurana. The model of the Cathedral portal also became widespread beyond the Strait of Messina, influencing a series of pointed-arch portals in Calabria. – Regional Museum of Messina”

A high-angle view of a serene coastal harbor during dusk. In the foreground, a curved line of small, colorful motorboats and rowboats floats on dark, calm water. In the background, a stone breakwater with concrete tetrapods stretches into the sea, topped by a slender pillar with a star ornament at its peak. Above, the sky fades softly from a deep blue at the top to warm shades of yellow, pink, and orange near the horizon.

A vertical close-up photograph shows a cluster of trumpet-shaped flowers nestled within dense green foliage. The blossoms are shades of light pink and lavender, featuring bright yellow or orange centers. Some petals have dark reddish markings at the base of the flower's throat. Surrounding the flowers are numerous green leaves in varying sizes and tones, ranging from sunlit lime to deep shadows. Sunlight creates highlights across the petals and some of the surrounding leaves.
