Fragment with a Musical Angel (Frammento con Angelo Musicante), Pietro de Bonitate (14th century), Regional Museum of Messina, Sicily, Italy

“Laurana’s style became widely adopted—as seen in the *Fragment with a Musical Angel* attributed to Pietro de Bonitate. De Bonitate was a collaborator of Laurana and the creator of the Cathedral portal (executed in 1468); he followed the design of Baboccio da Piperno—a sculptor active within the circle of the Angevin-Durazzo dynasty in Naples. Our fragment may well originate from that same milieu, as it demonstrates an adherence to Gothic models despite the structural approach derived from Laurana. The model of the Cathedral portal also became widespread beyond the Strait of Messina, influencing a series of pointed-arch portals in Calabria. – Regional Museum of Messina”

A landscape photograph shows a calm body of water surrounded by lush, green tropical vegetation under a blue sky with scattered white clouds. On the left side, an island is covered in dense shrubs and ferns. Two exceptionally tall palm trees stand prominently in the center, rising high above the surrounding treetops. To the right, a dark sculpture sits on a stone pedestal near the water's edge, alongside more thick greenery. The foreground includes part of a light-colored paved area next to the reflective surface of the water.

A large, wide-spreading tree with a massive trunk and thick branches dominates the landscape. The tree features a heavy, textured trunk with prominent buttress roots extending into the dark soil below. Thick, sprawling branches reach outward, covered in dense clusters of green, oval leaves that create a broad canopy. In the background, a manicured green lawn is visible, bordered by a white fence and distant trees under dappled sunlight. Small, indistinct figures of people can be seen far off near the fence line.

A close-up photograph shows a white bowl filled with long, thin pasta coated in a yellow sauce. Large shavings of pale cheese and chopped green herbs are scattered over the top of the noodles, which also feature chunks of browned meat. The rim of the bowl contains the text "Milk Market" with the word "DENVER" written vertically between the two words. A fork is partially visible tucked under the pasta, and a glass of water is seen in the blurred background on a dark surface.
