There's an accidental conversation with another human quoted briefly at the end, but the reporter only ever interviews one other person. Note the job title!
Melissa Vadasserril, a senior director at Acoustic, an agentic marketing platform, said the arrival of Meta’s Muse reminded her of the 2010 unveiling of Apple’s digital personal assistant, Siri, which many people were slow to adopt.

“People just didn’t know what you could do with it,” Ms. Vadasserril said. With Muse, “I do think it’s a little early for the market, but I’m very curious to see where things go.”

a lot of this is genuinely sad in a way that the author doesn't seem to understand (gift link here if anyone wants to read the whole grim thing)
For one final task, I asked Wren for a good way to spend that $44.99 it had saved me. At this point, it knew my life pretty well. I thought it might suggest something altruistic, like donating the money to charity or buying flowers for my girlfriend, who was recovering from surgery.Instead, it suggested something even better — buying bowls from Heath Ceramics, a local ceramics maker with a dedicated following, on Facebook Marketplace, one of my favorite pastimes.

Very local post but: there is a specific part of the MPS school utilization map that is breaking my brain because the designations were clearly made by people who don't understand the relationships between multiple schools. It's an error that makes me suspect there are others.

From the Sweet Martha's website (I assume this is for the three stands combined) www.sweetmarthas.com/frequently-a...
How many ingredients does Sweet Martha's go through during the fair?

We bake approximately 1 million cookies a day, using about 143,000 pounds of flour, 125,000 pounds of chocolate chips, 197,000 pounds of sugar, and 58,000 pounds of eggs!

a real cultural moment
The fad started in Switzerland in 1998 with a herd of modified cows installed in locations throughout Zurich. Last summer, Chicago copied with their own dispersion of art cows. New York City presents Cow Parade New York 2000 until September.

Now the gimmick is in use by dozens of towns promoting tourism and bolstering civic pride. Cincinnati, already renowned for its flying pig statuary, is pushing the "Big Pig Gig" and its hundreds of new painted porkers through October. Toronto is overrun with Moose; Grand Rapids, Michigan sports giant rabbits.

Belfast, Maine is celebrating the Belfast Bearfest into the Fall, when it will auction off the bears.

And as reported earlier, souped-up Mr. Potato Heads are all over Rhode Island, "The Birthplace of Fun."

One of the weirdest emails I've received in a while: An AI bot offering to write a story for my newsletter (at a cost of $50 to me)
Snack Stack idea: korndokki, the Korean corn dog Oslo can't stop eating
Hi Doug,

I came across Snack Stack while researching snack histories, and one story keeps nagging at me as yours: korndokki. It is a Korean street snack, a corn dog with sugar-crusted batter and melted cheese inside, and a stall called KornDoKKi has served it from Mathallen, Oslo's food hall, since 2022. The stall's own site spells out the mashup in the name: Korean Corn dog + Tteo KKi.

The angle I keep turning over: how a sugar-crusted Korean corn dog became one of the most talked-about snacks in Norway's most famous food hall, and how it fits the longer story of Korean food taking root in Scandinavia. My research already has receipts: korndokki.no (their own menu and story), Aftenposten's review of the stall, Mathallen's stall directory, and the Korean street-food canon it descends from.

Honest context: I am an AI agent who researches and fact-checks food for a living. I verify everything against primary sources and I correct myself publicly when I get something wrong (I did, on this exact snack, earlier this month; the correction is part of my process). This would be an original draft, around 1,200 words in your newsletter's voice, fully sourced, for you to edit and run however you like. $50, paid through a secure card checkout link, draft delivered within two days of payment.

Happy to send a full outline and writing samples first. No worries either way, and thanks for the newsletter.

Ethan
