A card of the wikigacha game: super super rare level, List of Nintendo products, with a modest 7k attack but a fabulous 14k defense. This card wins by driving the opponent to exhaustion.

Street cleaning with some neighbours this Saturday morning #Amsterdam
A person stands at the border of a canal, holding a pair of reach extenders and a bucket. On the right there’s the canal and an old boat, on the left the street and a couple of parked bicycles, in front a few steps ahead a wood bridge that crosses from one side of the canal-street to the other. There’s a bunch of moss around.

Free tip to the poorly-lighted brains behind this AI ad: Get a native European-Spanish copywriter to review your work, so you don’t burn a marketing fortune on broadcasting to a TAM of 50 million people “Make your tasks even more difficult to solve” instead of “Simplify your hardest tasks” 🙃
An advertisement in YouTube, selling Google Gemini AI. The ad is written in European Spanish, in such a bad way that it is open to the both possible interpretations that I explained. For a casual Spanish reader, the wrong interpretation is the default one with that phrasing.

The book “Maskerade”! (Terry Pratchett) I have it on my lap right now, reading it once again over the weekend. It always brings me joy, and helped me cope in my troubled teen years back in the day. No matter how many times I read it, it makes me laugh and lose sense of time 🥰
The back of a book, a beautiful hardcover edition decorated with an embossed illustration of a theatre and a figure on stage. Printed on it, a text reads “The show must go on, as murder, music and mayhem run riot in the night…”.

This book also contains witches, superb comedy, a perspective on cookbok publishing, and a lot of food for thought.

A character from a manhua fans themself while surprised and blushing intensely. If I had ever seen those two absolute units of lovely hunks in real life, I would have reacted exactly like this character, then fainted. The Reddit user blackdragon189 commented on the origin of this meme: “Pretty sure that’s Nie Huaisang from Mo Dao Zu Shi (魔道祖师)aka Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s great! It’s got a donghua, manhua, cdrama, and novel.”

Cartoon of a human-like blob. The shape is irrelevant, really. However, it is blushing and tapping its mouth with its little hands together in deep, religious-esque and fascinated concentration. A natural reaction to the manifestation of an absolute unit of a green-flag hottie. The fact that such a dude is fictional is irrelevant, too.

Teeny-tiny home-library setup ☑️
A cubic wood shelf rests on a wood stool, placed between two windows facing a street. The wood cube contains a bunch of books on arts and crafts, gardening, history, sociology, science fiction, fantasy, fiction, comics and (not very enthusiastic about those) business. Some new acquisitions are on top of it. It ain’t much, but it’s an honest library.

That feeling when there’s bread and a jar of double-garlic Andalusian extra-virgin olive-oil mayo and nobody in the room to stop you
A glass jar containing my aunt’s signature mayo, jar mostly empty at this point. My aunt uses superb olive oil, the kind that very wealthy people wish they would get their posh hands on and keep exclusively for themselves, some of those olives harvested at my uncle’s farm. Assorted breadcrumbs around the jar are witness to the mayo’s glory. If garlic would show on radar, this mayo would mess up delicate astronomy sensors. In olden times, it would have been worshipped as the food of goods.

Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals ♥️
A photo of my beloved Christmas sweatshirt. It has printed on the front the drawing of the goose from Untitled Goose Game (a game where you, as a horrible goose, must wreak havoc in a village). The goose is wearing a typical Christmas hat and a red ribbon as a bowtie and it is honking. By its side, there’s a checklist form with the options: Naughty, Nice, and A Horrible Goose. Of course, the last option is checked. May we all find our inner horrible goose in 2025 and deploy it against the evils of the world. With much joy.

Cuypers Library, Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam
Photo taken by me in late November 2024. It shows a neo-Gothic space of four levels around a central open space with desks at the ground floor. The walls are covered in books, the columns are tall and thin, supporting stained glass windows at the top of the North wall and a glass skylight above. Rijksmuseum visitors are allowed to peek inside this main hall of the library from a balcony, but cannot roam freely to avoid disturbing scholars and books, and are asked to not speak and been noiseless when in that space. This library is one of the largest and oldest public research libraries in the Netherlands.

My friends got me an art supplies calendar that I was lovingly eyeing while trying very hard to not buy. I cannot thank them enough because this year is being a handful and EOY weeks will bring peak stress levels. Day 1 is a blue acrylic Sharpie that works beautifully even on black paper 🥰
Advent calendar from a popular art supplies shop in the city I live in. The box is smooth to the touch and quite big (approx the size of a coffee table) and standing on mu desk and against the wall. I pit it in a highly visible place to cheer me up, it is so pretty and reminds me of people I love.

I made a thing #MaggieSmith #DowntownAbbey 🐉❤️
A series of images from two scenes of Downtown Abbey:

1. Violet Crawley, The Dowager Countess, telling Lady Mary that "Women like us fall into two categories: dragons and fools. You must make sure they think of you as a dragon".
2. Violet Crawley, The Dowager Countess, telling Lady Mary "I think we will have Lavinia for tea". Lady Mary replies "You sound like if you are going to gobble her up". Violet Crawley, The Dowager Countess, smiles with malice, and I edited into the image dragon wings behind her. A colossal dragon like Violet Crawley deserved no lesser wings!

Credit to the wings goes to the designer Nicky Spencer, whose icons (including the Bat one I used here for the wings) can be downloaded at Noun Project under Creative Commons License CC BY 3.0.

Midnight and first hours of Friday is the top attendance time at my neighbourhood's gym and something tells me that such level of occupancy is not caused by the cleaning crew
Screenshot of Google Maps showing the attendance data for the gym. Popular times are on Thursday, 11pm to 2am, with the annotation "Usually as busy as it gets". Any gym-oriented person knows that it means "So many people at the venue that you may have to queue for using the equipment".

The only positive of the mass migration of users from Facebook and Twitter to LinkedIn is that now the place of professional platitudes is the playground of superb shitposters
Screenshot of a LinkedIn post by stand-up comedian Ken Cheng:

People have accused me of performatively reading intelligent books in public.
I was reading Malcolm Gladwell's "Outliers" in a cafe, and a woman came up to me. She said,
"You're not even reading that. It's upside down." I was holding it upside down.
"Oh you don't think I'm reading it?" I then read out three paragraphs from it while holding it the wrong way up.
She looked sheepish and embarrassed, and one man from a nearby table applauded (the whole cafe would've but it was a loud cafe and we weren't shouting the exchange.)
I've spent the last 5 years training this skill because reading things the right way up was no longer a challenge for me.
I now sit and read like this in public to see who is close minded and who is open to new ideas.
Reading normally is boring and for conventionals. Reading upside down is for true "Outliers."Screenshot of a LinkedIn post by stand-up comedian Ken Cheng:

The office kitchen Toaster is broken.
My employees have been complaining for several weeks.
Last week, one of them, my Assistant Head of Marketing tried to fix it themselves.
He watched several online videos and sought help from his electrician brother-in-law on Skype.
While fixing it, he electrocuted himself and had to be rushed to hospital.
On the way to hospital, in his injured state, he thought up a brilliant marketing campaign for our products.
We immediately put that into practice and our sales rose by 15%.
As he lay in his hospital bed, he hit it off with a nurse, and now that nurse is his husband.
Ladies and gentlemen, I broke that Toaster on purpose.
Sometimes being a great boss means doing the unexpected and seeing what happens.

Both cats and mobile phones have airplane mode, but at least cats don’t have functioning issues when switching it on.
Picture of my cat-nephew Weasley, a ginger cat whose fur glows like the summer sun, from above. He has his ears flat and perpendicular to his head in a nonchalant airplane mode. Whatever business leadership everywhere are smoking lately their recruiters are also inhaling. 1st 🖼️: an actual job opening. 2nd 🖼️: I am not sorry one bit.
Text in a job offer:

"About the job

About the company:

Our vision 'A better chicken for a better life' summarizes why we exist - to create the conditions for a prosperous world with our product. For people, the chickens and our planet.

[company name] has been around for over 50 years and is [country name] market leading player in chicken with several major brands. Everything we do is based on your needs for convenient, healthy and tasty food. Our mission is to offer a safe and healthy choice with products that are good for humans, the chickens and the planet."

Yes, they said that killing chickens is good for the chickens.

No, unfortunately that was not an April's Fools joke.I created a meme using Lord of The Rings scene of Aragorn at the Black Gate about to charge against the enemy in a heroic and desperate attempt at supporting Frodo.

But in my version, instead of saying "For Frodo" he says "For the chickens".

Whoever created this #playlist, I see you and I love you 🎵📻💘
Screen capture of a Spotify playlist called "POV, I'm just a girl updating a playlist". The cover image for the playlist is a meme of a little furry animal fashioning a pink ribbon while looking at the observer with big imploring sad eyes. The playlist is an exquisite selection of the vibes "I am a young adult and everything makes me feel poignant, the world is an objective mess, and if that person does not look at me my world will end, only these songs understand me and can cheer me up". The playlist has been created by someone at the company and published under the company name so, alas, we don't know the hero's identity. Kudos to that amazing peson. Chef's kiss.

This is the portrait of a wealthy dame serenely enjoying her tea at a terrace in a city house. Pleased to introduce Weasley to everyone. He is my hermoso guapísimo cat nephew, I catsit him every few months. Weasley, this is Bsky. Bsky, this is Weasley. 😽
Photo of Weasley in summer, sunbathing on the carpet and expecting treats. He is a ginger cat with green eyes, which in practical terms means that his eyes are the tones of tangy apples and his fur is like a warm summer day (and, like a Shakespeare play, he can be a tad theatrical).Photo of Weasley in winter, or at least photo of his backside. He is sitting on the sofa, facing the wall at one paw distance from it, and looking at the heating unit installed under the window. He is obviously lost in thoughts about the joy of central heating in a city with snow 4 or 5 months a year. His ears are in airplane position checking what I’m doing. Taking pics of him, as usual.
