Bat 63: LEGO wreath!
A LEGO Halloween-themed wreath hanging on a blue door. There is a big bat at the top constructed in purple, navy blue, and black with big cartoonish eyes, plus two tiny bat-shaped pieces perched at the bottom, all with plastic wings permanently extended. Around the wreath are dense, colorful leafy and floral pieces, a jack-o'-lantern, little pumpkins, spiderwebs, a ghost, and a spider hanging in the center by a thread. There is a lot of pink, purple, and orange.

It doesn't take much editing to make xkcd 2501 about #MinCup. marshdeer.github.io/xkcd2501-gen...
Custom variant of xkcd comic 2501: Average Familiarity.

[Ponytail and Cueball are talking. Ponytail has her hand raised, palm up, towards Cueball.]
Ponytail: Minerals are second nature to us MinCup fans, so it's easy to forget that the average person probably only knows graphite and halite.
Cueball: And quartz, of course.
Ponytail: Of course.
[Caption below the panel]
Even when they're trying to compensate for it, experts in anything wildly overestimate the average person's familiarity with their field.

If you see this, post a vampire that isn't Dracula…..🦇 (if you feel like it)
A hazy, cloud-like being over a rocky landscape. It is the dikironium cloud creature from original Star Trek episode "Obsession" that drained its victims of red blood cells.

It's #anorthite for me today, because of labradorite, iridescent blue and made in part of anorthite. It's beautiful, and I have a more reaching reason as well... www.mindat.org/min-2308.html
Labradorite, deep iridescent blue with a little green sheen and mottled darker parts, looking a bit like islands seen from space.

Bat 62: Greater long-nosed bat (Leptonycteris nivalis). Like the lesser long-nosed bat, this is a nectar-eating pollinator. It is also known as the Mexican long-nosed bat.
Side view of a bat with a long snout and a pointy nose leaf. It has sandy fur, small round ears, small brown eyes, and what appear to be whiskers on its chin.

Bat 61: Bechstein's bat (Myotis bechsteinii), who relies on ancient mature forests in England and Wales. Destruction of these forests has made this once-common bat rare. www.bats.org.uk/about-bats/w...
A greyish bat flying under a tree with mouth open to echolocate. It has light fur on its body, darker wings, and reddish mouth, arms, legs, toes, and tail (which is attached to the wing membrane). The bat's ears are moderately long and pointy. Behind, not well illuminated, is either another bat of the same type or a superimposed earlier image of the same exact bat.

Bat 59: Fairy light detail (purple).
A tiny bat, purple printed on white plastic with a white LED lighting it up from behind. It is cartoonish, with closed eyes and two white fangs. In the background are purple artificial Christmas tree branches and silver wire from another light strand.

Bat [picture] 58: Common tent-making bats (Uroderma bilobatum).
Six bats roosting together in their leaf tent. The bats are brown with white stripes running from their noses to their ears, both over and under their eyes. Their ears are small, pointed at the tip, and yellow at the edges. Their eyes are big, round, and very dark brown.

Bat 57: Victorian costume.
Black and white illustration of a woman in both senses of fancy dress. She wears a headpiece shaped like a bat's face and ears, a choker, a shawl with a large fake bat at the front, costume wings seemingly attached to dark opera gloves, a ball gown with a bodice and a tiered pleated skirt, and pointed shoes with bats on top.

Several plain white envelopes fanned out to show their stamps: the "Spooky Silhouettes" USPS Forever stamps featuring Halloween characters on colorful shiny backgrounds with windowframe lines. Along with a cat and a raven on yellow, a pair of ghosts on orange, and a spider and its web on red, there are a trio of bats with some sparkles on purple.

Bat 52: Stoliczka's trident bat (Aselliscus stoliczkanus).
Head-on photo of a bat with a round face, small ears, dull brownish fur, and a big fancy nose. Its nose has three protrusions in a row, like the ends of a trident pointed toward the camera. The bat has its mouth open in what almost resembles a confused expression, and the fur on its lip looks like a sparse mustache. Its eyes are hidden by its nose and fur.

Darn, it wouldn't fit on the most minimalist version.
Custom fake Burger King ad using the current minimalist logo and the long-form title of Chumbawamba's "The Boy Bands Have Won" album.

Between the logo buns: Chumbawamba
The boy bands have won, and all the copyists and the tribute bands and the TV talent show producers have won, if we allow our culture to be shaped by mimicry, whether from lack of ideas or from exaggerated respect. You should never try to freeze culture. What you can do is recycle that culture. Take your older brother's hand-me-down jacket and re-style it, re-fashion it to the point where it becomes your own. But don't just regurgitate creative history, or hold art and music and literature as fixed, untouchable and kept under glass. The people who try to 'guard' any particular form of music are, like the copyists and manufactured bands, doing it the worst disservice, because the only thing that you can do to music that will damage it is not change it, not make it your own. Because then it dies, then it's over, then it's done, and

Replacing the slogan: the boy bands have won

Below is a photo of a carefully styled burger.
