Or actually, you could start by asking your GP if they have the report or any other record of the diagnosis. And then if they do then just ask them to bring it onto modern coding.

If the diagnosis at the time was an outdated diagnosis like Asperger syndrome then specifically ask for it to be coded as ASD.

You'd need to get a copy of the report (full or summary), show it to your GP (they'll likely want a copy) and SPECIFICALLY ask them to code the diagnosis to your record.

My final nudge to get diagnosed was actually kind of hilarious. I'd been having burnout issues at work and talking to my TL about it (who was actually trying to be supportive).

Was pretty sure about the tism from when I was a teenager and my variety was called "asperger syndrome" at the time and I had books about it. Didn't pursue diagnosis then because of familial stigma about it. Did pursue it more recently due to burnout becoming visible in my work etc. Lol

Her reaction? Very excited and "WHY DON'T MY CHILDREN HAVE THIS???"

And that led to a lengthy digression in the session where I ended up listing off my diagnoses and pending ones (just the ADHD at that point) and about how I reserve the right to call myself that but I don't necessarily appreciate others saying it to/about me.

Reminds me of when we had a Respect at Work guy come in and explain to us why using phrases like "basket case" is offensive and I just went in very AuDHD fashion "I dunno I call myself a basket case all the time"
