also, doing that work is fucking hard. My body is irreparably damaged. I suffer from mild to severe chronic pain problems because of it. There are few safety nets for manual labourers, and if we want more of them how do we change the environment for workers so many deem as less than?

the way someone talks about the value of any labour is the clue to their thoughts on all labour e.g. labour that requires ‘no brain power’ or was ‘unskilled’ i have yet to encounter one that fit that description

my dad wants to travel to a place he’s never been, where they speak a language he doesn’t know, with an alphabet he cannot read. he has no idea where his mobile phone is and can’t really use it even if he did, he walks short distances with a cane and needs to rest a lot this is not a drill lol
