The portion of the oceanic heat release to the atmosphere from El Niño events vs the heat release from non El Niño marine heat waves elsewhere in the global ocean is falling as marine heatwaves are generally intensifying year to year worldwide. The accelerating global ocean heat uptake due to our greenhouse gas emissions and related feedbacks is an alarming trend that is accelerating global atmospheric warming. It is this development more than the trend to intensifying and more frequent El Niño events (even though this trend is also caused by our greenhouse gas emissions) that is the greater threat to our water planet’s climate and habitability. The portion of the oceanic heat release to the atmosphere from El Niño events vs the heat release from non El Niño marine heat waves elsewhere in the global ocean is falling as marine heatwaves are generally intensifying year to year worldwide. It cannot be overstated how fucked we are. #collapse "I would roughly estimate that spatial area difference with this year’s El Niño at about 5 times larger than in 2015 and about 10 times larger than in 2023." www.facebook.com/share/1CKU6Z...
How bad could this record size and strength El Niño be?

Comparisfon of Global Sea Surface Temperature Anomalies (SSTA) on 29 September in each of the following years:

2026 (record El Niño)
2025
2023 (medium - strong El Niño)
2015 (very strong El Niño)

The highest SSTA in the El Niño surface warm pool (tiny green circle in each image) is displayed in each of the three El Niño years. (The standard comparison uses the fixed rectangular ENSO 3.4 region for rating El Nino strength but I’m not doing that here). A simple SSTA doesn’t tell the whole story - not by a long shot. The surface spatial difference of the size of the yellow shaded area (> + 2.5 degrees C or + 4.5 degrees F), for instance, is enormously more in 2026. I would roughly estimate that spatial area difference with this year’s El Niño at about 5 times larger than in 2015 and about 10 times larger than in 2023.

This of course doesn’t mean the 2026-2027 record El Niño will give up 5 x more sensible and latent heat to the atmosphere than the 2015-2016 event. But the huge sea surface area difference does point to a much greater heat transfer to the atmosphere than just the difference in average SST in the ENSO 3.4 region (less than 1 degree C difference) would suggest. The warm water volume anomalies indicate a record smashing volume of eastward moving warm water across the tropical Pacific but we await recent data to see by just how much more.

Also, the Indian Ocean (with an apparent ongoing shift to a Positive Indian Ocean Dipole (warmer west then east)) and North Atlantic sea surfaces are considerably warmer in 2026 and that is known to significantly increase the global extreme weather impacts of an El Niño.

The total global economic losses from the 2026-2027 El Niño are variously predicted to be between about 1 and 7 trillion U.S. dollars including over the ensuing 5 year period - and one highly publicized recent prediction of resulting human fatalities of 450,000. I suspect the losses will be far greater than that largely because of the enormously larger warm pool in the ongoing El Niño which is yet to peak in size and SST until about 2 more months from now. However not every region sees losses; some countries in the past have actually experienced an overall economic boost from an El Niño - including the U.S. But South and SE Asia, the Indo - Pacific, Australia, much of South America, and Eastern Africa are likely to be hard hit by the record size and intensity 2026-2027 El Niño. And as I’ve posted before, parts of California, the SW U.S. and NW Mexico should brace for catastrophic flooding.

New ways to say we're fucked, what a difference a day makes. "This is nothing short of cataclysmic. The global extreme weather impacts through mid 2027 will be catastrophic." "We are in runaway warming." www.facebook.com/share/1EwLfa...
Subsurface equatorial Pacific water temperature anomalies for the date in the El Niño warm water plume now approach + 12 degrees C (+ 22 degrees F) at 100 meters depth at 115 W longitude or 1,600 km (2,600 km) west of the Galapagos (Image 1). That is about + 5 degrees C (+ 9 degrees F) higher than ever recorded anywhere at any depth in any El Niño warm water plume.

Maximum Equatorial Sea Surface Temperature Anomalies (SSTAs) for the date now reach + 5.8 degrees C (+ 10.4 degrees F) just west of the Galapagos (Image 2) and to the southeast at 4.9 degrees South latitude now reach + 6.4 degrees C (+ 11.5 degrees F) 100 km off the northernmost coast of Peru (Image 3).

The strongest El Niño prior to 2026 was 8 to 11 zettajoules of anomalous upper ocean heat content with an average SSTA of about + 2.6 degrees C in the ENSO 3.4 region of the central/ eastern equatorial Pacific.

Based on the latest subsurface heat values this El Niño could reach a + 5 degrees C (+ 9 degrees F) average SSTA in ENSO 3.4 which yields a staggering 38 zettajoules of anomalous upper ocean heat content which is 4 times the anomalous upper ocean heat content of any prior El Niño on record. This is nothing short of cataclysmic. The global extreme weather impacts through mid 2027 will be catastrophic.

The 2023-24 jump in global average 2 meter height air temperature of + 0.3 degrees C was associated with 16 zettajoules of upper ocean heat content increase. So using a rough comparative calculation we are looking at about + 0.7 degrees C of global average 2 meter height air temperature increase in 2027. And that doesn’t include air temperature rise from further marine heat wave intensification around the world.

We are in runaway warming.

The Gulf of Mexico’s average SST is now at a record high for the date while the Gulf Stream is making a hard right turn off New England and heading nearly due east before entirely disappearing from the surface far to the SW of Ireland. It normally travels much further north and maintains much more flow.

We are going to see this spread to other parts of the world along with catastrophic flooding in other areas over the next 12 months as the record intensity and size El Niño releases its heat to the atmosphere. It will likely be the biggest annual global agricultural downturn on record.

IPCC RCP 8.5 Modeling (adopted in 2013 and abandoned in 2026) of Northern Hemisphere Biomes and Sea Ice Coverage at 0 degrees C (1979-2000), + 1 C (2025), + 2 C (2050, + 3 C (2075) and + 4 degrees C (2100) of global warming above 1979-2000 (images).

We will likely reach + 2 C above an 1850-1900 baseline at least temporarily next year (2027) due largely to the record intensity and size El Niño. At + 2 C Arctic sea ice coverage quickly falls below 1 M square km which could also be triggered by the same happening first in Antarctica this coming austral summer. Once those two events occur we quickly go to virtually zero ice cover in both polar regions and atmospheric warming accelerates dramatically due to much greater heat absorption by the ice free oceans and due to other feedbacks like further cloud losses and cloud dimming. From there we would likely reach + 3 C by 2040 and + 4 C by 2050. Extinction is possible at just + 3 C and likely at + 4 C.

We have only about 4 to 10 more years of habitable climate.

So, what John's really saying is we're fucked. 70% increase over the record heat plume 3 months before it's expected peak? Duck and cover. www.facebook.com/share/1JdgaK...
Subsurface water temperature anomalies for the date are nearing + 11 degrees C (+ 20 degrees F) in the equatorial warm water plume of El Niño at 100 meters depth at about 118 degrees West longitude or about 1,000 km (600 miles) west of the Galápagos Islands.

The total excess heat content of this El Niño warm plume/ pool is now 70% greater than the previous record in the 1997-98 El Niño.

The global weather and climate impacts through boreal spring will be catastrophic. I think we will have a “Double Blue Ocean Event” (sea ice in each polar region dropping below 1 M square km) during 2027 which will lurch the planet into massively accelerating atmospheric warming.

The global uppermost ocean is simply absorbing way too much heat. Sea Surface Temperature Anomalies for the date now jump to + 5.6 degrees C (+ 10.1 degrees F) on the equator just west of the Galapagos while prediction models also jump for the ENSO 3.4 region of the equatorial Pacific SE of Hawaii to a staggering + 4.9 degrees C ( + 8.8 degrees F) peak for this building record smashing El Niño by about December.

I’m afraid this IS a catastrophic level because it has a significant potential to shift the planet into much accelerated warming. Extratropical marine heatwaves will likely amplify greatly and uppermost ocean warming feedbacks could accelerate ferociously.

El Niño Update

Rapid warming of the subsurface plume of El Niño in the eastern equatorial Pacific has occurred since the last image just 5 days ago. Values are approaching + 10 degrees C (+ 18 degrees F) at 70 meters to 150 meters depth 800 km (500 miles) west of the Galapagos. The heat is also expanding to greater depth. And most concerning of all is that heat is continuing to regenerate in the far western equatorial Pacific subsurface waters which should be cooling at this stage of El Niño. If the latter continues we could have a longer duration and possibly even stronger event than the record smashing intensity already predicted.El Niño Update

"Accelerating warming of the uppermost ocean is an Extinction Level Event." Enough said www.facebook.com/share/14pb4k...
We have now many bad and worsening signals in the surface and subsurface of the global ocean:

Here in austral mid winter we continue with more warming than cooling of the Southern Ocean sea surface (south of about 60 degrees South latitude) - warming is circumpolar - and we even have significant patchy warming in the rest of the Southern Hemisphere sea surface (first image, 7 day trend).

Then we also have highly unusual subsurface warming in the far western equatorial Pacific (4th image) when it should be cooling as the El Niño warm water plume moves east - meaning this likely record El Niño could be longer lasting and even stronger than the latest model runs predict.

Add to that we have record rates of warming even for summer continuing for many weeks now in large parts of the northern hemisphere sea surface particularly from about 40 degrees North latitude all the way into the Arctic (first image).

And finally, new all time record high Sea Surface Temperatures (SST) were set yesterday both in the Mediterranean at 32.2 degrees C (90.0 degrees F) off Tunisia (fifth image) and in the open ocean of the eastern Pacific at 32.5 degrees C (90.5 degrees F) 100 km off the coast of southern Mexico (sixth image). This is a catastrophe for marine life and in the Mediterranean it will likely strengthen mid latitude cyclones to record levels within a few months and could generate a record strength Medicane. In the tropical North Pacific it will likely further worsen an already hyperactive hurricane/ typhoon season.

There is absolutely no doubt that global warming is accelerating. The global ocean is screaming it loud and clear. If we don’t listen we do so at our peril.

This post details exactly why nothing was ever going to happen to lead us in any other direction than self imposed extinction. Too stupid to live describes humanity as a whole perfectly.
It is diabolical how idiotic as a society we have become.

The photos I posted of the Collins First Nations fire are very real and were taken by a photographer who escaped via boat. You can follow him and his work on instagram @/lyndo.tyler

People have claimed the photos are staged, AI generated or digitally manipulated.

People have claimed the fires are from weather that has been geoengineered.

People have claimed it’s because we have not clear cut and logged the BWCA and federally protected wilderness areas.

People have claimed they are fake because the smoke is too high in the sky, despite the fact that wildfire smoke can travel five miles into the atmosphere.

The lack of critical thinking thinking skills, the inability to understand and trust science, the belief that climate change is not real, and the trust in administration that has shown how much they’re willing to destroy to make themselves rich is horrific.

Our planet is dying and we will die with it.

The amount of heat in the ocean has rapidly increased. I don't see how we could be far from a kind of permanent el nino. www.facebook.com/share/p/1BXC... www.researchgate.net/publication/...
Could we be shifting into a quasi permanent El Niño state? It’s happened before but this time it could happen much faster - like over just the next year.

During the early Pliocene (about 3 to 5 million years ago), the strongest El Niño state was a climate where the ocean was trapped in a permanent El Niño-like condition. Instead of a cycle, the entire equatorial Pacific stayed chronically warm, with surface temperatures roughly 1.5 to 3 degrees C warmer than modern times.

In this period, the usual temperature difference between the eastern and western Pacific shrank drastically. Cold water off South America disappeared. This mimics a modern, extreme El Niño, but it was the normal climate baseline for millions of years.

High carbon dioxide levels and altered ocean currents caused this condition, drastically shifting global weather patterns.

In modern times, the strongest "super" El Niño on record occurred in 1877, causing waters in the ENSO 3.4 region to spike around 2.7 to 3 degrees C above average.

This is a concerning signal. Equivalent Ocean Heat Content (OHC) is increasing in the far western tropical Pacific north of the equator despite El Niño transferring heat eastward. OHC in the far eastern tropical Pacific north of the equator has actually dropped over the last month while it has increased significantly in the far western tropical Pacific north of the equator. Cross equatorial winds and surface currents have pushed some of the uppermost oceanic heat in the central equatorial Pacific south of the equator. Unfortunately the southern hemisphere graphic has been unavailable since April 30 (fascist fuckery and/ or budget cuts? - I don’t know). Values that we can see in the northern hemisphere are off the charts and exceed 250 kJ/ square cm over vast areas of the tropical North Pacific. This is fun. "Sea level rise (SLR) estimates will likely have to be ratcheted up once again." www.facebook.com/share/1CbJao...
The recent intrusion of warmer Circumpolar Deep Water under ice shelves around Antarctica is alarming but now we have evidence that these waters are causing melting an order of magnitude faster due to massive channels hundreds of kilometers wide that the warmer water cuts into the underside of the ice which traps warm water and causes overturning that accelerates the melt rate. On top of that these channels weaken the ice structure allowing the shelves to collapse faster. Most alarming of all, the buttressing effect of the ice shelves slowing glacier ice flow into the ocean is thus decreasing much faster.

Sea level rise (SLR) estimates will likely have to be ratcheted up once again. SLR of multiple meters, thought to take many centuries until just a few years ago, could now occur in just a few decades. I wouldn’t be surprised if these predictions again increase significantly because of the accelerating feedback cascade we are now in. These new understandings help explain why the cold surface meltwater (blue region in image, Sea Surface Temperature Anomalies (SSTA) for the date) has rapidly expanded around Antarctica over the last few years. In this case blue is definitely not your best color.

This is not going to end well for us. All the so called "green energy" in the universe can't stop this. www.facebook.com/share/1GfgDm...
Eastward surface ocean currents now dominate the equatorial Pacific and reach 1.66 m/s in the eastern equatorial Pacific with Sea Surface Temperature Anomalies (SSTAs) for the date as high as + 2.2 degrees C now within the ENSO 3.4 region. The greatest SSTAs are now south of the equator. I think we will see an ENSO 3.4 average of greater than + 2 degrees C (“super” El Niño threshold) sooner than generally predicted - by about June.

Fun times. Just what do you suppose will happen to food crops? Globally. www.facebook.com/share/1CGcn9...
“Extreme heat intensity roughly doubles at 2 degrees Celsius of global warming, and quadruples at 3 degrees, relative to 1.5 degrees increase in average global temperatures.” The average 2 meter height air temperature over land in the northern hemisphere has already risen + 2.3 degrees C since pre-industrial times. It will likely reach + 3 degrees C by about 2030 and + 4 degrees C by 2040.

“The number of days each year when it is simply too hot to work may rise to 250 in much of South Asia, tropical Sub-Saharan Africa and parts of Central and South America.”

It's possible we not only have a super el nino but a triple dip coming this year. If this happens many millions of people will die very quickly. Starvation and thirst. Have fun. journals.ametsoc.org/view/journal... youtu.be/4UPj9RanA_Y?...
Highly recommend this important video.

A rare triple alignment in 3 ocean basins of a strong El Niño in the Pacific, a negative Indian Ocean Dipole, and an anomalously warm North Atlantic sea surface would produce huge impacts on global precipitation patterns creating an enormous shock to global food supply and distribution systems. The last time such an alignment occurred was in 1876-78 and is discussed in a 2018 paper by Singh et al: https://journals.ametsoc.org/view/journals/clim/31/23/jcli-d-18-0159.1.xml. That event was the largest disruption to the global food supply in the last 800 years and killed 30 to 50 million people through starvation and water shortages.

Trends at the moment in each of the 3 ocean basins point to meeting the conditions for the alignment. If the alignment happens again this year it would be a tremendous test of our modern food supply system. Our higher baseline temperature now means more severe droughts, killer heatwaves, and catastrophic flooding would all likely be worse than in the Victorian era triple alignment. We won’t know if the alignment is likely for about 60 to 90 more days but the short necessary lead time to deal with the possibility means we need to begin preparing for it now.

I know, almost nobody wants to acknowledge this but I don't give a shit. I'll share it anyway. "Uppermost ocean warming globally is an Extinction Level Event." www.facebook.com/share/1EBdSB...
The greatest by far easternmost tropical Pacific surface and subsurface warming now is occurring 10 degrees north of the equator - not on the equator where we invariably see it with the early stage of an El Niño. Ocean Heat Content (OHC) is increasing at incredible rates just north of the equator in the Pacific at a time when it should be falling. Equatorial Pacific OHC peaks on average between October and January and reaches its average yearly minimum in April. We have now an extraordinary and highly anomalous rate of ocean heat uptake occurring here because the uppermost ocean is becoming increasingly stratified with its mixed layer increasingly thinning (this is also happening across most of the global ocean) under clear skies all conspiring to rapidly heat the uppermost ocean like never before on record. (This is also happening in the North Indian Ocean now.) This uppermost oceanic heat now extends deep enough (several hundred meters) that surface winds do not upwell cooler water.

By October- December when El Niño will probably peak, so will the North Pacific Marine Heatwaves. We are likely going to have an enormously powerful El Niño supercharged by extraordinary heat build up adjacent it to the north while marine heat waves around the world continue at high to record levels for the time of year. Marine heat waves continue in the southern hemisphere when the ocean surface should be cooling as we are well into Austral autumn now.

Uppermost ocean warming globally is an Extinction Level Event.

The ocean is angry and it's going to kill us for our stupidity. "We will soon see atmospheric heatwaves killing massive, unprecedented numbers of us at a time." "Its a self reinforcing feedback loop we have here..." www.facebook.com/share/18KT8s...
It’s increasingly clear we have an Extinction Level Marine Heat Wave developing in the uppermost Pacific Ocean and sea surface. We will soon see atmospheric heatwaves killing massive, unprecedented numbers of us at a time. My guess this arrives this summer or next. Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos will likely be the first as soon as next month. Japan and South Korea could experience it later this summer. 2027 will likely be much worse if we get what I think will be a record Super El Niño later this year.

Numbers will go into the millions per event within just a few years.

It is way past time to throw everything humanity can muster toward reducing not just greenhouse gas emissions but atmospheric concentrations as well. Solar dimming strategies must be developed also. The sand in the hourglass goes pit pat. ⏳Seems the North Pacific is again going hot this summer to the extreme...

Added the SSTAs from the last years at this time of the year with the last showing the MHW at full strength in 2025...

Like I started to frame it last year:

We have here the first extinction level class marine heatwave in the making in this region which seems to intensify and spread every season now further...

Important: Marine heatwave expansion and intensification started well before IMO SOx reductions in 2020.

Anyone who has any understanding of the drivers behind marine heatwaves would never see IMO2020 reductions as the main cause.

MHWs are circulation driven which are behind large clouds reductions in the buildup phase - blocking highs with then higher SSTs reinforcing the cloud signal. But just weak winds also enough - in a former post I described all the feedbacks we have here interacting with not all playing into it all the time.

IMO2020 just made it a bit worse, with non-linear feedbacks being the main reason for such an SST intensification.

Its a self reinforcing feedback loop we have here...

"Total OHC has more than doubled during a period when it should have significantly dropped." "This is an Extinction Level Event." www.facebook.com/share/1DE623...
Pacific Ocean Equatorial Ocean Heat Content (OHC) reaches its average annual maximum between October and January and its average annual minimum in March. The first image is OHC now and the second image is OHC exactly 3 months ago in January. Total OHC has more than doubled during a period when it should have significantly dropped.

Even in prior El Niño years the average peak and minimum months did not appreciably change. The ocean has shifted regimes to one of rapid heat uptake while the Earth Energy Imbalance is accelerating due to our increasing greenhouse gas emissions. But what’s far worse is this increasing heat accumulation from incoming solar radiation has shifted its focus from the deep ocean to the uppermost ocean due to increasing stratification in the latter. So the world ocean surface is now on average warming the atmosphere. This is an Extinction Level Event.

No amount of smoothed graphs/charts or catchy lines can make this any better. We're fucked, plain and simple. Doesn't matter what the 20 year average says or the 365 day running mean is. This is a big load of fuck you. www.facebook.com/share/p/18Tu...
The equatorial Pacific subsurface warming plume continues to intensify and enlarge in the image update released today by NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center. I infer from the maxima through extrapolation of the thermal gradient that the highest temperature anomalies for the date have likely reached about + 8 degrees C (+ 14.4 degrees F) at about 80 meters to 175 meters (262 to 574 feet) depth and at least + 5 degrees C (+ 9 degrees F) over a vast portion of the subsurface equatorial Pacific from about 127 W to 177 W longitude - a distance of about 5,600 km (3,400 miles). This is an incredible oceanic heat flux and it began much earlier in the year than on average for other El Niños.

This increasingly looks like it will be a record shattering El Niño. Marine and bird life throughout the central and especially the eastern equatorial Pacific is likely going to be decimated. The impacts on the weather globally will be so extreme that in terms of the global economy trillions of dollars in damage is likely. Sea ice especially around Antarctica will likely virtually disappear by next March, tipping the planet into even greater warming acceleration.

Bunch of slow boiling frogs, only not so slow anymore. #kissyourassgoodbye www.facebook.com/share/1GjPqk...
I’ve followed oceanic heat for 46 years and this is the scariest collection of maps I’ve ever seen. Ocean Heat Content in the North Pacific now (1st image) vs 1 year ago (2nd image) has more than doubled. Borneo is in the lower left corner. Sea Surface Temperature Anomalies (SSTAs) for the date now (3rd image) vs 1 year ago (4th image) reveal much less warming.

This makes it crystal clear that the tropical Pacific Ocean just below the surface is warming at an incredible rate and much faster than the actual sea surface.

The depth profile of water temperature anomalies for the date as of April 3 along the equator in the Pacific compared to a 1980 - 2000 average baseline (last image) verifies this conclusion - and notice there is even more subsurface heat just north of the equator (1st image).

The message is clear, we are done, fucked one might say. "My guess is barring those two we have only two more decades tops before massive heatwaves kill most of us, and then just a few more years till extinction." www.facebook.com/share/1GgQZM...
I would give anything not to have to write this but I am compelled to convey the truth as best we see it now regarding the very latest climate change findings out now.

There is no reasonable hope left that we can stop runaway warming. The problems are that natural greenhouse gas sinks are rapidly converting to sources, marine heatwaves likely keep escalating along with atmospheric ones, the sea ice is rapidly vanishing, cloud reduction is likely to continue accelerating, methane releases from frozen sea floor hydrates, tundra, and warming wetlands will inevitably be massive sooner rather than later, and other feedbacks even undiscovered ones likely continue to kick in increasingly.

As I see it now only Stratospheric Aerosol Injection can buy us time and it is fraught with risks some of which are unknowable till we commit to what could be a perpetual program which also adds more greenhouse gases. We then even if all other anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions are reduced to zero still have to get miracles in new atmospheric greenhouse gas sequestration methods. My guess is barring those two we have only two more decades tops before massive heatwaves kill most of us, and then just a few more years till extinction.

"Although few climate scientists have publicly acknowledged it yet, it is becoming increasingly clear we have begun runaway warming." www.facebook.com/share/1AQ1DN...
Eddies in the Agulhas Current near its retroflection south of the southern end of Africa (image) have become so intense now the current speeds in these spinning eddies are faster than the current in any part of the Gulf Stream which generally until recently had the fastest open ocean current in the world. Counterclockwise spinning Agulhas eddies are also now the sites of the highest Sea Surface Temperature Anomalies for the date in the world in the open ocean. Intensifying counterclockwise spinning eddies in the southern hemisphere and clockwise eddies in the northern hemisphere warm the sea surface. Speeds in Agulhas eddies (image) are now near 2 meters/ second (7.2 kilometers/ hour or 4.5 miles per hour) with SSTAs as high as + 7.5 degrees C (+ 13.5 degrees F). SSTAs reached over + 10 degrees C (+ 18 degrees F) in these eddies this southern hemisphere summer.

West of the Agulhas retroflection its warm water leaks into the southern South Atlantic a few hundred kilometers north of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC). East of the retroflection the Agulhas eastward extension carries most of the Agulhas’ warm water east southeast across the southernmost South Indian Ocean until it (increasingly recently) eventually mingles with the ACC. This is accelerating warming of the Southern Ocean around Antarctica and hastening year to year sea ice loss there.

It was just discovered that the transport of oceanic heat poleward is significantly increased by powerful eddies in western boundary currents (see my prior posts for details) especially in the Agulhas because it now has the fastest spinning and largest eddies. The more asymmetric the eddy the more the heat is transported poleward. The western boundary currents of the world are intensifying and warming in their upper layer in response to g l o b a l w a r m i n g which is in turn accelerating warming of the polar oceans and contributing to polar amplification of atmospheric warming. Sea ice is decreasing in both …We are seeing/ learning about an ever faster feedback cascade as warming progresses and accelerates. The speed of the cascade is shocking and so is how much earlier than predicted it has developed. The speed of the warming, not so much the magnitude, is driving the accelerating pace of the cascade. Although few climate scientists have publicly acknowledged it yet, it is becoming increasingly clear we have begun runaway warming. It is uttermost insanity to continue increasing our greenhouse gas emissions. The path we are now taking leads to virtual human extinction and in my opinion it will be reached by mid to late century due to a whole other cascade of “feedbacks” and catastrophes that the climate feedback cascade will assuredly trigger.
