Gargoyle concept Explanation in Alt Text #art #worldbuilding

Gargoyles create aqueducts that control the flow of water in their environment. They then spend most of their lives "standing guard", the sound of rushing water attracting prey need their thirst quenched.

Gargoyles do not move when perceived by any other creature, their stone bodies make them seem like statues more than actual living creatures. Even line of sight breaks, they'll tend to remain still.

The water around Gargoyles is known for being particularly fresh - almost uncannily so for their environment. It is perfect for drinking, and that is exactly what they'd want you to attempt.

Once a creature has drank or removed water from their aqueducts, Gargoyles take advantage of their hindered perception and lowered guard to strike, seeking to rend and feast on their prey. If their prey reacts fast enough to see the Gargoyles they will immediately freeze up again, just like statues, as if they had always been in that position.

There is a volcanic biome in the heart containing a natural forge that can refine metal to a quality that is not comprehendible to modern technology nor science. Within it, a cove flowing with scalding water. Decorated with simple alien weaponry. Look long enough, and you'll find their maker.

Whole blurb:

There is a volcanic biome in the heart known only as The Forge, a place of searing heat containing a natural forge that can refine metal to a quality that is not comprehendible to modern technology nor science. Within it, There lies a cove hidden away - a cavern flowing with scalding water. Decorated with simple yet alien weaponry. Look long enough, and you'll find their maker.

A startlingly humanoid creature of stone and water, eternally toiling away at crafting weaponry. If it believes you worthy, you may be permitted to leave with one of your own.

Light is scarce - even among the highest depths of the core. Sources of light often forbode danger, regardless of how harmless it seems. Also plant-headed slime people exist. Yippee :) #art #worldbuilding

Many of the uninitiated who plunge themselves into the core do not fathom its overwhelming hostility. Suffocating darkness, bloodthirsty flora, monstrosities lurking in every direction. #art #worldbuilding
