SENF'26 No. 30 - ...I Can Explain Funny how things turn out sometimes. #SENFtember2026

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 18h

Doodle No. 273 Girls gotta watch out for each other. The warlock's not just speaking gibberish, I actually wrote out all her spells. Back at the camp she flattered the fire; now, in combat, she calls upon the wind. Both invocations leave her quite open, which is why she couldn't do this alone.

Doodle No. 271 Hands are hard, okay? And before you ask: she has little pockets sewn into her cape; enough to carry knives and a few useful tools. For everything else, she lives off the land, using her familiars to hunt and gather. The cape itself is very comfortable, and makes a good hammock.

SENF'26 No. 27 - Gallery This isn't my final submission for the month, but it feels like a good one to say thank you to everyone who liked and followed my progress. It's been fun. #SENFtember2026

Doodle No. 270 One-page travel montage. Here's a free tip for my fellow dungeon-delvers: always bring a mirror, a bottle, and a sack.

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

Doodle No. 269 That's enough dialogue for now. Not to belabor the point but, since her introduction, the warlock has spoken 168 words - not including her words of power. If we include those, she breaks 200. The warrior has spoken 14 words, and only gets a handful more.

SENF'26 No. 26 - Impromptu The 24-hour news cycle provides another unwelcome disruption. I only planned on doing a handful of these, as dictated by my mood and what I wanted to practice, but with only four left I suppose I should do them all. In for a penny. #SENFtember2026

SENF'26 No. 25 - Lost & Found And now we're all caught up! I briefly considered making the clerk another generic everyman, but decided a one-on-one scene like this was better served with someone specific. #SENFtember2026

SENF'26 No. 23 - Obscure A common mistake requires a quick and clever solution. I initially drew another, entirely different picture for this prompt, but ran into a small issue that prevented me from posting it. Maybe someday. In the meantime, here's a backup. #SENFtember2026

Doodle No. 268 Magic in this story is performed through communion with spirits, which requires the channeler to speak with care. Fire spirits are especially capricious, and must be flattered to earn their service. Her familiars at the bridge were shadows bound to masks she had to carve herself.

010

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

Doodle No. 267 Ritual time. A lot of modern day "Pop" fantasy really neglects the spiritual aspect of practicing magic. At best you get a kind of magic-as-science, but usually it's mana or something handwavy with zero room for mysticism, which is fine for video games but I ain't about that.

I can think of few news stories that better sum up the state of the country than the closing of a 200-year-old museum, containing a myriad of irreplaceable artifacts, for the sake of short-term profit margins. #SaveTheAcademy www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxyf... save-the-academy.org

SENF'26 No. 22 - Air The Cape of the North Wind (rare) grants its wearer dominion over air, and provides a selection of wind-based spells, including the ability to fly, while passively redirecting all missile attacks. It comes with one or two armor restrictions. #SENFtember2026

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

Doodle No. 266 In the unlikely event this story is ever animated, it is very important to the warlock's character that when she turns here she twirls her cape. Know that if they omit this it is against my wishes.

SENF'26 No. 21 - Fall As fun as it's been to tell a story with this challenge, writing, drafting, and drawing two different comics every day has been very time consuming, so I think I'll settle for simpler drawings going forward, like this one, with maybe one or two more comics. #SENFtember2026

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

Doodle No. 265 The initial rough draft for this page (and the last) was more or less a series of talking heads, which I thought was boring, so I redrafted both. Having the warlock perform a spell to show off the creature was an easy fix, but it did mean I had to finalize its design.

SENF'26 No. 19 - Bottomless I've been feeling a bit under the weather this weekend, so when I had time to draw I prioritized doing my daily doodle (which thankfully, both days, involved a lot of talking). I've got a few more of these in me, but it may be a bit before I catch up. #SENFtember2026

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

Doodle No. 263 Isn't she a chatty one. As a point of reference, our new character speaks more lines on this page than our protagonist speaks in the entire rough draft. Still in the discovery phase of drawing a character more than once, so her design my shift a bit between updates.

000

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

Doodle No. 262 The neat thing about casting a scene in darkness is you can get away with hinting at architecture without actually having to draw it in full. The un-neat thing is having to shade in the whole page worried you might accidentally smudge the art.

001

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

SENF'26 No. 18 - Secondhand Embarrassment After I decided her nondescript hero should be a new character, I wracked my brain trying to figure out how to swap out his old, generic design for a new, unique one. Then I saw the prompt for today and it all just clicked into place. #SENFtember2026

010

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

Doodle No. 261 Aside from giving her longer hair, I also wanted this character to stand out from my others by giving her a taller frame and a longer face - an oval rather than a circle - but I'm not very good at keeping it consistent, on this page more than most. Something else to work on.

010

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

SENF'26 No. 17 - Exchange That second speech bubble should've been a bit higher. When drafting a comic with dialogue, the words are always the first thing I add (after the panels). A crude drawing can still be deciphered, but squished handwriting is often illegible. #SENFtember2026

030

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

Doodle No. 260 It's a long way down. Also, as of this page, this is now the longest comic I've ever drawn in my entire life. Depending on how closely I adhere to the rough draft, the final product should be somewhere between 30 and 40 pages. There will, of course, be a compilation post.

000

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

Doodle No. 259 There's a video on YouTube of a guy singing the Epic of Gilgamesh in its original Sumerian, which used to contain the following top comment (paraphrased from memory): "I like how this song written in ancient times opens by talking about even ancient-er times." We really are small.

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

SENF'26 No. 16 - Perspective Trying out a new pencil. I leave the gap of time between this comic and the last one to the viewer's discretion. A few minutes? An hour? Overnight? You tell me. #SENFtember2026

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

SENF'26 No. 15 - Robot Yeah, they just...they just have that in the break room, right next to the vending machine. The rough draft featured a new character, a scientist, with more dialogue, but the last thing I need is scope creep in my silly daily art challenge. #SENFtember2026

021

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

Doodle No. 258 Longtime readers may be wondering, "Is this the same civilization from your other comic, with the stairs that change shape, size, and placement whenever you're not looking at them," and the answer is...maybe. Kinda flubbed the lighting, but why am I here if not to learn by mistake?

000

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

Doodle No. 257 A simple page this time, but I enjoyed inverting the top and bottom, and getting a feel for our hero's silhouette. Not as strong (nor as striking) as it could be but, in a story with only two people, you can tell at a glance it's her.

020

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

SENF'26 No. 14 - Downblouse This feels like a valuable comic to clarify that this character has a humiliation kink, which was something I decided on early on, but left implicit until today. One must imagine Sisyphus happy. #SENFtember2026

000

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 13/09/2026

Doodle No. 255 I think this and the last page are two of the weaker drawings I've done this month, and was tempted to redo both of them. In the interest of my own education, however, I think it's best to commit and move on. I can always fix it later when time isn't a factor.

SENF'26 No. 11 - ? As much fun as I had with the inherently silly concept of state-mandated nudity, I think a soft reset was inevitable, and so her life returns to normal...kinda. Trying a new technique that's better for my wrist, but it did leave our lady a little off-model. #SENFtember2026

071

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

Doodle No. 254 I've been feeling a little strain in my wrist recently; I looked it up and it turns out I've been drawing wrong, or rather, sub-optimally. I should be drawing more with my arm, less with my wrist, stuff like that. I'm trying to course correct but it's hard to reprogram yourself.

001

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

Doodle No. 253 Ah yes, the Guts Special. This page was definitely more of a struggle than the last three, despite taking less time. The angle of attack, which details to obscure, the shadow limbs vanishing, all very annoying. If I had to draw it again, I'd probably cut the top panel entirely.

SENF'26 No. 9 - Professional Nudity "...It's a living." I apologize for the delay, but I was incredibly busy yesterday, and when I sat down to draw something my mind went a blank. Isn't she already kind of a professional? Well, now she's even more professional. #SENFtember2026

Doodle No. 252 The boys are back in town (the boys are back in town) to kill you. Not entirely happy with the way the wall came out, but I don't use a ruler so that's on me.

000

Rainy Day Doof @doofdoodles.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

Doodle No. 251 One of the upsides of giving your protagonist long hair is it makes it very easy to convey dramatic motion. I've been avoiding onomatopoeias, but it would please me greatly if you'd make a door spring sound - in your mind or with your mouth - for that one knife there, thank you.

SENF'26 No. 8 - Restaurant Local celebrity treats herself. The waiter was originally gonna be in the background but I accidentally drew him too big, so now he's in the foreground and still...really big. Just a big guy, I suppose. In any case, our girl gets a breather. #SENFtember2026
