we are just so desperate for leaders that sound LIKE REAL PEOPLE. real g-d people who can talk without polls and focus groups and this desire to make everyone like them without inspiring anyone.

This is where I am on trans rights, women’s rights, immigrants rights and of course black rights. You don’t bend. Not an inch. Anywhere.
Doesn’t matter what the press says. Doesn’t matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn’t matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world — “No, you move.”

The 2028 Democratic nominee needs to be someone willing to use the vastly expanded executive powers for the greater good. It CANNOT be someone committed to “returning” to norms that no longer exist. We have to commit to rebuilding aggressively AND to putting protections in place for the future.

Imagine if after Pearl Harbor, FDR said “somebody bad did something wrong and that’s unacceptable.” You need to use subjects, verbs and not wink wink nudge nudge. Democrats always do this (Harris did it a lot as VP) and it is ineffective communication especially in a dire situation like this.

Democrats refuse to use confrontational or "polarizing" language. Their consultants won't let them. So everything is reduced to this mealy-mouthed mix of buzzwords and platitudes, portrayed as somehow aspirational and uplifting.

The GOP tried a hundred times to repeal Obamacare, knowing they never would succeed, but they knew it (1) gave them a platform every time to push their narrative that healthcare=death panels and (2) showed their base “we are fighting for you!” The Dem version is “sorry, won’t succeed, won’t try.”
