With Lupin III carrying the spirit of Western comics despite being a Japanese creation, what better comic artist to do a Franco-Belgian spin on it than a Spirou artist who's grown whole-hearted appreciation of manga during a pivotal point in his career?

Munuera's pedigree here is twofold: He's not only an artist who worked on one of the most beloved Franco-Belgian comic series in the region, but he also acquired plenty of inspiration from Japanese pop culture along the way.

During that run, its 49th album featured a storyline where the journalist duo travel to Tokyo and are put on a mission to rescue two kids with psychic powers from the clutches of the yakuza. That album got a tie-in guide based on Morvan and Munuera's travels to Japan that inspired the story.

Munuera was the lead artist on the 2004-2008 run of Spirou & Fantasio. That series has run for 78 years now, but went on a six-year hiatus in 1998 after a highly divisive album storyline. With "Paris Under Seine", the duo of Munuera and writer Jean David Morvan breathed new life into the series.

I think another lesson to take from the loss of both Dolly and Tim Curry is that neither of them took themselves seriously but they took the work dead serious that's the most important thing pour all of yourself into the craft but have fun and don't get an ego.

Look, I'm sorry for ranting about this, but I can't stop thinking about what suddenly got people to collectively decide that reappropriating the term "LARPer" as a synonym for "poser" is a good idea that definitely won't tarnish the reputation of a subculture of D&D players any further.

You know, I'm starting to think that Mazes & Monsters may have caused more damage to the LARP community than we like to think. Forget making D&D seem problematic - that book/movie (and its parodies) painted LARPing as something only mentally troubled people do to break themselves from reality.

I am absolutely mystified by people continuing to use the practice of live-action role-playing as a punchline. Even other geeks I've known are guilty of this. What has that community ever done to deserve it, outside of just being a little too cringe for your taste!?
