Hello, #showmeyourknits ! I have been away from here for a while and happy to be cycling back to more knitting as the farming season winds down. I am PROUD to say my Valentine Sweater will be on display at the Topsfield Fair in a couple of weeks and EXCITED to work up a vest of my own design.
A photo of a knitting work in progress.
A knit piece with a light grey ribbing along bottom and stockinette deep, mottled purple above lays on a white table. The purple ball of yarn sits in a blue ceramic bowl above to the left and next to a notebook that has a pen and measuring clip on it. A fluffy pink sweater with poof sleeve and cabling detail running down the center of the sleeve lays on a dark teal cushion.

Hey #knitsky, it’s been a while. Had some time to check in and show off that the yoke pattern is finally complete on both sleeves. Realized I get to finish this project while watching the #tourdefrance !

#ShowMeYourKnits 🧶 week 95 is YELLOWS It’s been a while since I incorporated yellow in a project. Here’s a pair of slippers my husband somehow lost in a move and will still occasionally lament they’re missing.

I just bought a poplin shirt with the intention of knitting sweater vests to compliment it. Does anyone else shop for clothes based on their knits?🧶

#showmeyourknits is perfect for the Spring Equinox! Around here, it’s time to seed cold hardy crops outside like peas and spinach, prune my roses and daisies, and tuck away the snowboard gear. As both hemispheres change seasons, show me your GREENs 🥬 ! 🧶🍀🌱

Week 85, Show me What’s on Your Needles; what are you excited about?✨ Hit hard with a feverish head cold and was just wishing for a more mindless knit to do SOMETHING in my haze. The Shooting Stars sweater v2 is coming along though. #showmeyourknits 🧶

#showmeyourknits is #sweaters for getting cozy in March! My favorite thing to knit. This Fragmented Sweater (by WestKnits) was made for my husband. He picked the colorway from West Wool Tandem’s vast selection.

Oh hey! It’s been a while #knitsky. I’ve been away and took a break from socials while gone. #showmeyourknits is all about #lace this week. It’s been a while since I’ve knit lacework so here’s a crappy photo of an infinity shawl I worked up back in 2013.

#showmeyourknits is #firsts to start the year right! Here are some my momentous knitting firsts: 1-First knit pattern was baby socks with Classic Socks by Melinda Goodfellow 2-First original knit was a cabled cowl 3-First test knit Skylar Cowl by Rastus Hsu Pattern links in alt text 🧶
Close up picture of baby, heathered red handknit socks laying on a wooden table. Knit from Melinda Goodfellow’s #29 Classic Socks - baby, child & adult pattern

https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/29-classic-socks--baby-child--adult-socks
Picture of person looking towards the left wearing a knitted cowl, close up between ear and sternum to focus on the cowl. The yarn is made with a mix of red, light tan with some metallic thread. The cowl has a series of loose cables running vertically with ribbing on top and bottom. It’s very symmetrical. Portrait of a woman on an icy lake, very white background with a few out of focus trees on the upper right of the frame. It feels very cold. Woman is standing center and facing the right with a knitted wrap draped in layers around her head and neck. The fabric is mainly a deep purple shade with broken lines of bright yellows, reds, pinks and lighter purple colors in a pattern that gradually gets denser towards one end.

This is a test knit made for Rastus Hsu’s Skylar Cowl pattern.

Do you #swatch to start a project? I find it helpful to make a one to get a feel for a pattern and how the colors I’ve chosen look together. Once, I bought a whole new set of yarn for a project after #knitting a swatch. What time saver! I also save them with my project notes as a tactile record. 🧶
A close up of a knitted swatch made with fingering weight yarn. A deep grey blue, similar to a dark night sky, is the background color. A buttery yellow six pointed star made from a chart is offset from the center towards the right. Below the star the background fades into a multicolored yarn with the same shade shifting to greys then a matching yellow then back to the dark grey.

Not an #indiedyer but an #indieyarn I JUST picked up today is Lillooet Sheep & Cheesery in Boxford, MA. They use every part of their sheep and make a wonderful fisherman’s worsted wool. This natural skein will make a cozy hat gift for the holidays.

Gather round for a couple knitting #horrorstories for Week 65 of #showmeyourknits 1-The time I opened the dryer to find TheKid’s #AnimalCrossing sweater felted beyond repair. 2- When I realized I left my Purlbreak Shawl hanging on the porch of a resort to dry after I left the country. 😭
A ribbed, wool pullover sweater in colorful sections designed to match one my child loved having their Animal Crossing avatar wear. The collar is a bright orange, yoke is deep green, white stripe, back to orange till just above the elbow on the sleeves, then a stripe of deep green, stripe of orange, a kind of wheat-yellow heather for main body and down rest of sleeves, back to orange for hemlines. Purlbreak shawl by Stephen West in purple for center section, added a mossy green stripe with purple, then section of heathered pumpkin orange with purple stripes, then section of bright cream and pale green with purple stripes for last section. All stripes are broken up at regular intervals by a vertical one stitch strip of purple that ties the design together.

OK, so that big push last week was not fruitful. #Knitting away all cocky while watching TV and held up my work to evaluate it when I noticed a #droppedstitch tucked just before the ribbing starts. Now that it’s fixed, I’ll try it on again tomorrow before binding off.

I’m making a big push to finish the body of this sweater today! Conditions are perfect: n’oreaster blowing outside, day off, cat firmly planted on my lap.
A hand holds a fluffy pink WIP left of center over a black cat lounging on a cross legged person wearing brown corduroy pants. The scene feels cozy and you can see that the knitter has just begun the first rounds of ribbed stitch, which indicates that they are working on finishing and edge on their project.
