This morning I am parent to my furious umbrella, coaxing with raindrops from my night pocket and promising it a wild release around the next corner but fearful for its future if I do
Cheerful old man is windswept and grey bearded dressed in blue denim shirt and brown peacoat.

This morning I’m a door that’s closing soon and the sight of a low and distant moon. I’m the wish on a star in the middle of the day and a blue dress sky so far away
Old man photo again. Blue trench coat and bearded smile.

The Grapes of Wrath is considered by many to be the Great American Novel. But was it stolen from another novelist?

Dog Story - part 6 A shocking turn of events
An inky black, yet golden eagle swoops down from the sky and grabs our hero the pup between its talons, flying up up up as the pup sadly watches the scroll falling back down to earth

This morning I’m the rain on the tongue, the breeze on the skin, I’m the touch before taste and the moment I’m in. I’m the scatter of light from panicked flight but I’m reaching for sky in the middle of the night

A study in pigeon Here’s a poem - full text in the alt. Like and share and follow and all that x
A study in pigeon
The pigeons are snoring
though they look awake–
going about their lives,
pressing all the buttons
to keep the pavements working,
moving out of the way of anything
with bigger shoes than theirs.

What do they know of looking up?
Of retiring to the country?
Of pheasant, peacock, swift or swan?
Of singing, or being sung to, all day long?

But who knows what a pigeon knows?
Maybe grey is really a rainbow
in the muddy puddle of our eyes.

Today I learned that chalk didn’t exist until the Triassic. And that’s because chalk is really a fossil called coccolithophores which is a type of nanoplankton. There are probably more coccolithophores on earth than there are stars in the observable universe.

This is the most remarkable story Ray Bradbury ever shared with me. He told it to me late one night, sitting in his den of antiquities and mementos. Take five minutes to read this. It’s pure magic. #Writing #Living #Creativity #RayBradbury #BookSky

Escape
Nobody remembers the first time
they saw the sun wave at them
from a rainbow, heard a songbird
make the meadow weep dewdrops
at daybreak, touched the wave
the ocean had made only for them,
tasted a snowflake from heaven’s plate,
or held the wind in their mouth
like a cloud’s kiss.

Why can’t we remember
such ordinary things,
and are we looking for them
in someone else?

Thaw On that sun-neutered morning, before the dog’s bark could thaw, we froze a soap bubble on a fence– tiny pins holding a rainbow in place. I confess, I did not expect it to burst, or that you wouldn’t miss its colour.
