I am so freaking excited! Tonight, my friends are creating their Mage: the Ascension characters for a new chronicle in our Montréal of Darkness setting! We played a C20 campaign, a Hunter: the Reckoning one. Both before the pandemic. We get to revisit our city with my 2nd favourite WoD game!

Because there's still good stuff happening: Using Mage 20th anniversary to teach about worldviews is proving to be both highly challenging and highly rewarding. Much reading and thinking involved. Plus, students are total neophytes when it comes to ttrpgs. But that's precisely what I dig!

Finally managed to come up with a game for my philo 102 course! Students will play alien xenoarcheologists who visit Earth when humans have disappeared. They will uncover all kinds of traces left by mankind and will use them to answer questions of philosophical anthropology!

Currently reading the Mage: the Ascension 20th anniversary corebook. One thing I love about this edition is how nuanced the presentations of the different factions are. Traditions are not simply the good guys. Technocracy are not simply the bad ones. Can't wait to read the factions books.

The Oblique Palette is a control panel with eight analog knob inputs and eight analog (and servo!) outputs. It has little blinky lights to tell you the voltage level you're communicating on each channel.
Not shown: the plugdata patch that controls these inputs and outputs, allowing you full programming control of voltage levels, sampling both the real world (either through twisting knobs or by designing controllers) and the outputs of electronic instruments, and returning programmed responses in the form of control voltage and servo rotation.
It's for making computers that are for making art, fucking around, and falling in love.

I have a love/hate relationship with that game. Love the setting and the transhumanism. Hate the rules and all the potential bookkeeping that might come with forking, resleeving, dying, etc. Tbf, I only read the 1st ed. Even read most supplements. Is 2nd edition different? How?
