Tomorrow at 9 a.m. PT, Tim Sehn will show how he built DoltLite, a version-controlled fork of SQLite. What began as a one-week coding-agent experiment is now in beta after six months and ~2,000 PRs. Free to attend, with live Q&A. See you there! luma.com/3wh1rjkv

DumboDB now has the Git primitives that enable distributed data workflows: clone, push, and pull. This unblocks moving data between DumboDB instances. Our work on the dolthub experience is ongoing, but the core workflow is ready. Release 🔗 www.dolthub.com/blog/2026-09-01-dum…

We investigated the research, read the code, and examined the benchmarks. The authors had some genuinely interesting ideas about prolly trees. The performance comparison? Not quite apples to apples. 🔗 www.dolthub.com/blog/2026-08-24-eva…

DumboDB 0.1's indexes were shakier than advertised: deleteMany/updateMany left stale keys, and merges corrupted unique indexes instead of structurally sharing them. All fixed in 0.3.0! Read the full story (and see Dolty's launch) here: www.dolthub.com/blog/2026-06-30-dum…

DumboDB now connects to MongoDB Compass without driver changes. Drop-in compatibility holds for standard operations. Version control still requires the embedded shell. Neil documented the end-to-end setup here 👉 www.dolthub.com/blog/2026-06-16-dum…

Why was DumboDB's disk usage 6x higher than Dolt's? We hunted wasted space, fixed bugs, and cut storage overhead to match Dolt (0.998x!). Read Neil Macneale's full investigation: 👉 www.dolthub.com/blog/2026-06-09-dum… DumboDB Git: github.com/dolthub/dumbodb

Don't panic. Recover. Go's recover() looks simple, but two rules trip up devs: → Must be called directly by a deferred function—not through a helper → Only works on the same goroutine—panics don't cross boundaries We dig into both gotchas below ow.ly/c9GR50XUeTN

You can't version-control a database using snapshots and logs. Let's be clear: MVCC ≠ version control. "Branching" without diffs or merges isn't version control either. It's just expensive backups with better marketing.

"Branching" without merge is just... copying. Neon lets you branch databases instantly. Cool. But you can't diff what changed. Can't merge it back. Can't see history past 30 days. That's not version control. That's a snapshot with extra steps.
