Final 2 photos from last night's @thegoldenratio4.bsky.social book signing. The bookstore @page158books.bsky.social was lovely and the people working there so nice. There were adoptable dogs to visit in an adjoining room. I'm amazed how much larger Guac is in person vs how he looks in photos!

This morning's walk included a Gigi's Critter Vigil™️with an orange kitty under the trailer. It was intense enough that when her mailman friend came by she didn't immediately give up her vigil. I said to him now we'll see which is more important and she eventually made a beeline towards the truck.

Tonight's episode of Gigi's Critter Vigil™️now with added barking. Not sure why Gigi chose tonight to bark repeatedly at this kitty. She's usually silent during vigils. Maybe it was because we saw it walking across a lawn first. Since it was a late walk, I managed to shush her somewhat successfully.

Gigi, a bridle colored staffy-mix dog is shown laying on the street staring at a kitty that is also laying on the street. She watched it cross a lawn and was excited enough to start walking very fast, considering her usual walking pace is snail-like. Then she actually barked at it, which she doesn't normally do. I tried to keep her quiet since it was a late walk and I didn't want to disturb people too much. The kitty eventually started walking in a different direction and Gigi finally allowed me to get her moving again to finish the walk.

An "I'm melting" edition of Gigi's Critter Vigil™️Got out early-ish to try and beat the heat, but jokes on me because we spent far too much time here staring at the kitty under the trailer. Escaping to the beach tomorrow to avoid triple digit temps at home, so potential sea critter vigils to come.

I was melting from the heat but at least this was a shady spot for her to refuse to move along and continue the walk. Eventually another walker came by with a dog and she started moving again.

Following on from my earlier reply: Cerave recently came out with a new oil cleanser and I was excited, but its directions call for using on wet skin, which is contrary to every other oil cleanser I've used in the past, so I have some skepticism. Neutrogena was my go-to but they discontinued it.

If you never used an oil cleanser make sure you get one that tells you to put it on dry and rub it around and then rinse it off. You may want to follow up the oil cleanse with a regular cleanser depending on how squeaky clean you want your face to feel.

So they are temporary tattoos? Meaning you put down a film like thingy and rubbed it into your skin? If so then yes, I second Heather's suggestion of an oil based cleanser. Burt's Bee's makes one, Clinique too for $$. Oil cleansers are also the best for removing zinc sunscreen from your face.

I HATE chunky pasta sauce, tomatoes on hot hoagies/sandwiches, and diced tomatoes added to other hot dishes. Tomatoes in salad is fine. I try black and green olives every few years and still a hard pass. I can eat a couple of kalamata ones in greek salad but usually give most of them to hubby.

Racing the heat advisory edition of Gigi's Critter Vigil™️Different storm drain than Sunday's vigil, but not the one from Wednesday's vigil, which was embarrassing. I remembered to put treats in my pocket today, and her mailman friend who tosses treats drove by. That finally got her moving again.

Gigi, a brindle-colored staffy mix dog is on the street staring into a storm drain. Something is of interest to her and she wants to stay in the spot staring & listening. It was a very hot morning and she needed coaxing to finish the walk before we melted.

What I would love, because it wouldn't be overtly "combative" but would scandalize the neighborhood, is a labor day inflatable. I bought a garden flag last year of a dog wearing a hard hat and holding a banner in it's mouth that says Happy Labor Day which gives me joy, but I want to go bigger!

She was so tired of constantly refilling the feeder because other birds were perching and drinking out of it and scaring away the hummingbirds. She made my dad remove as many parts from the feeder as he could. If the offending birds were mourning doves then she'd have been more mad than 3/4

Somewhere in their house are photos and maybe video of other birds comically flapping and hovering for seconds at a time to get 2 or 3 sips. I can't positively remember the species, but I feel like it might have been mourning doves, which are not a favorite (to put it mildly) of my mother. 2/4

Growing up my parents stripped down the hummingbird feeder so that there was nothing to perch on. Worked fine for hummingbirds who did their thing & drank to their heart's content while their wings buzzed away. Turns out with a lot of practice other birds can learn to hover to get a few sips! 1/4
