We're heartbroken to learn that Kreigh Barnette, aka DJ Kreightoven, host of "Cheek in Tongues" on the Sheena's Jungle Room stream, died in a car accident last week. A biography page (a work in progress) assembled by her dad and sometime co-host Kristopher Barnette: docs.google.com/document/d/1...

M’dou Moctar A self-taught guitar player from Niger Played acoustic and electric sets He’s Muslim, and sang in a language I don’t know But it sounded beautiful In his acoustic you could hear how Africa shaped American Blues And he shredded on electric Check him out if you will www.mdoumoctar.com

Released 44 years ago today on the Miami album, my favorite cut from it More western sounding than the brash, punky Fire Of Love sound Smokey steel guitar on this one, Jeffrey’s voice more mature, refined Another genius gone way too soon Enjoy Mother Of Earth with me, if you will…

Gram Parsons died today in 1973 “Cosmic American Music” you liked to call it I think you were brilliant, beautiful and erratic Guys like you and Jeffrey Lee had to come and go before being fully appreciated unfortunately But your music lives on long after your flames have burned out 🖤

Maybe it’s the kombucha talkin but here’s the thing: you count. You count in a world that wants to beat you down. Maybe you’ve struggled with self-confidence your entire life. I sure as fuck have. But we’re here and we’re pushing back against the doubt and the bullshit. Thanks for being, shitbirds 💜

Since when did ‘by accident’ change to ‘on accident’? Or have I just suffered from bad English my whole life? I hear this horrid phrase all the time from my wife and son, and now I’ve uttered it while talking to a coworker. Did I miss something somewhere?

Dolly Parton knew what it was like to struggle as she fought for working families her whole career. From providing free books to kids to giving working women our "9 to 5" anthem, she was an icon and an inspiration. Rest in power to our union sister. We will always love you.

Sometimes, we try too hard to get to the greener grass. In the process, we end up in trouble. When you find yourself in trouble, and you're stuck in a situation that you can't get out of, there is one thing you should always remember... Not everyone who shows up is there to help you.
