The thing about the Greens, versus PHON, is they won't receive endless free publicity. They'll need to be very strategic in how they get their message out, and really leverage non-traditional media channels. That's something Shoebridge appears to do well.

There is no 'heat' in the labour market. Unemployment is sitting at 4.5%. Wages growth is at 3.2%. CPI (inflation) is at 3.5% (You worry about wages driving inflation when wages growth is higher than CPI; not the other way around.)

It is FUCKING infuriating to hear the RBA Governor talk about increasing the number of unemployed people to take pressure of prices when she knows full well that wages aren't driving inflation.

It's worth stating, for the sake of clarity, that Australia does not need a growing population. Everything that you could gain economically from a growing population can be gained through productivity growth; it's just easier to increase corporate profits with a growing customer pool.

To be clear, any mayor or city council can do their own version of this in their city. The differentiator is will, or excuse. If they’re not, it’s because they’re choosing not to, either because they’ve wrongly convinced themselves they can’t, or because they don’t want to badly enough (or at all).
