Here’s the TOC! We have great essays on the political economy of care in the Caribbean and under Israeli settler colonialism; radical care practices among disaster case managers, in the welfare rights movement, between people on the move, within art, in the Gaza solidarity encampment, & more.

Here are 16 records from the first half of 2026 that are great. I’m still favoring noise, drone, field recordings, and various kinds of improvised music, but compiling this list made me realize I have an apparent affinity for duos. Comments on each coming over the next few days.

Last summer, @jamacintosh.bsky.social and I led a Marxism reading group on zoom. We are getting the gang back together this month to read @anniemcc.bsky.social’s Beneath the Wage. DM or comment if you’re interested. Or pass this along! All are welcome.

An update to capture some reading I got in after the semester ended and some things I forgot. - Janet Frame, Intensive Care (WHAT a novel) - Emma Heaney, ed., Feminism Against Cisness (esp. the flamethrower of an intro) - Harsha Walia, Border & Rule (taught a few chapters this fall, it’s great)

I didn’t have the bandwidth to read many full length texts this year, but here’s the fiction, poetry, and theory that stuck with me (not necessarily published in 2024).

I ended up using these three quotes, from Beverly Best, @annakornbluh.bsky.social, and bell hooks. And it went well! The students did exactly what I hoped they would: spent a little time on each and then started comparing them / reading them off of each other.

I’m teaching a seminar on foundational concepts in WGSS and want to spend part of our 1st mtg reading & comparing quotes on what theory is/does, how theory relates to struggle, etc. I’m sharing this banger from Beverly Best, but I’m looking for more. What are your favorites?

Who else is reading Pip Adam’s novels? I just finished The New Animals this afternoon and immediately bought Audition, her latest. I thought I had a good grip on what TNA was doing, but the hard turn it takes made my head spin.

One of these flew INTO MY SHIRT earlier and I didn’t even know until I was back in the office and felt it CRAWLING ON MY NECK, so that’s how my day went.

A quick appreciation post for After Marx: Literature, Theory, and Value in the 21st Century. I’ve read about half of it and it’s just banger after banger so far.
