Trump announced $100M to train U.S. citizen scientists only. www.bloomberg.com/news/article... These are not new funds. NSF underspent its education funds by $100M this past year. Of course, it pales in comparison to the $560M lost due to terminated NSF education grants: grantwitness.org/nsf 🧪
Trump Makes $100 Million Push to Train American Scientists

By Liam Knox
October 7, 2026 at 7:00 PM UTC

The Trump administration is injecting more than $100 million into education programs for American researchers in STEM fields, as federal policies stanch the flow of foreign scientists to the US and policymakers focus on an AI arms race with China.
The initiative, which President Donald Trump is set to announce at a White House summit on Thursday, aims to increase the number of highly trained scientific researchers who are American citizens through fellowships for PhD programs in science and engineering disciplines, according to a White House official.

Months ago, we called for an IG investigation into a $620 million Pentagon loan to a Trump Jr.-linked company. Now, Trump's sons' investments are tied to over $6 billion in active or promised government contracts. This is exactly why we need answers.

Green tomato chutney or salsa. Green tomatoes have a really unique flavor, they just have to be cooked first (no raw salsa)

The half hour or so before we left today, mom was more awake and aware than she'd been the previous 5 days. She seemed to know that we were there and talking. Her responses are mostly smiles and laughs which is nice to hear and see.

Let's stop using anodyne labels like "the immigration debate" or "controversy over migrants" and start referring to things accurately. "Expelling children who, by law, are entitled to remain in the country" or "imprisoning toddlers in concentration camps" or "pogrom"

My mom was diagnosed with early onset frontal temporal dementia 12 years ago. Back then i was sad and worried about what it would be like for her to die in 5-7 years. It didn't occur to me how much sadder it is to see her trapped in her still mostly healthy body but unable to interact with anything.
