This is the last photo I took with Jem, on Tuesday. I miss my couch companion. Her fur was so soft. She loved attention & I was usually more than happy to give it to her.

Give some love and comfort to our best girl, Jem. She’s been lethargic, shivering, panting and yelping and refuses to put weight on her front right paw. Never seen her in pain like this. Been waiting to be seen in lobbies of various clinics since yesterday afternoon.

Jem wishes to not be seen in her current condition and so here’s an image of her from a week ago.

I planted shasta daisy and dahlia last year and they didn’t produce a single bloom all growing season. They survived the winter, came back in spring, and are now flowering. Patience for the late bloomers.

The signs offered pointed messages, such as "Stop Trying to Control Us" (carried by protesters wearing the flowing scarlet dresses and white bonnets forced on the oppressed women in Margaret Atwood's 1985 dystopian novel "The Handmaid's Tale"), "Loser" (with the word superimposed over President Donald Trump's face) and "Has He Croaked Yet?" (held aloft by a protester in an inflatable frog costume).

Portland protesters last year pioneered the now-nationwide use of inflatable outfits, showing up outside South Portland's U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building in the silly costumes as a way to mock federal officers. So, as expected, the crowds on Saturday were peppered with inflatable frogs, bumble bees and even an alligator.

A noisy, ugly highway (Harbor Drive) went right through this space for decades. Torn out in the 70s—a radical decision for the time! Now it’s a lovely waterfront park with cherry trees that everyone can enjoy at their leisure 🌸

Added two vintage millefiori paperweights by Murano to my collection. I love their multifaceted outer shells, like power-ups in a video game, magnifying the tiny world inside
