Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Do you have any favourite episodes of The X-Files? Some of mine are… "Pilot" "Ice" "Beyond the Sea" "One Breath" "Anasazi" "Jose Chung's From Outer Space" "The Beginning" "all things" "Requiem" "Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster" 000
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 23/09/2026I enjoyed reading this 20th anniversary comic recently (DC Vol. 1, #33). It showcases 2 eras of Enterprise meeting and it seems oddly relevant at this point. 🤔 010
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 23/09/2026“We're human beings with the blood of a million savage years on our hands, but we can stop it. We can admit that we're killers, but we're not going to kill today. That's all it takes. Knowing that we won't kill today.” – Kirk, “A Taste of Armageddon” 000
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 23/09/2026What are some of your favourite social commentary quotes in Star Trek: The Original Series? Here are some of mine… “In our century, we've learned not to fear words.” – Uhura, “The Savage Curtain” "Stop trying to kill each other. THEN worry about being friendly." - Kirk, “Elaan of Troyius” 100
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 23/09/2026I've known a particular background extra was “Al Jones” for several years. What I didn't realise is that anyone considered his identity a mystery, but apparently Larry Nemecek just found out who he is! Any other "mysteries" I can help wrap up? 🤔 youtu.be/Fx9cTSyD8T8?...youtu.beWe just solved a decades old Star Trek mystery | INSIDE THE RODDENBERRY ARCHIVEYouTube video by BEAM by Roddenberry 000
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 21/09/2026I'm saddened to hear James Sloyan has passed away. His inspiration is basically why I became a Star Trek fan in my childhood, as his brilliant portrayal in the excellent episode “The Defector” was so powerful to see at a young age. 1224
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 09/09/2026Ah, ok. So yeah, I wouldn't call it "the Star Trek" either! 😂 010
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 09/09/2026I didn't call it "the Star Trek." Read the full sentence, please, because it makes sense in a grammatical context I've phrased it in. 100
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 09/09/2026What would be 1 thing you would change about the #StarTrek which was produced in the 20th century and why would you change it? 100
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 28/08/2026Yesterday I discovered a writer's group I'd never attended before, in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, and went for the 1st time last night. It was my first taste of the kind of collaborative dynamic you find in a TV writing staff: some ideas kept, some discarded, but always encouraging the other people. 000
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 23/08/2026On the audio app Clubhouse, the group Star Trek Sundays just ended a watchthrough of #StarTrekDS9 which took 2 years! To mark the occasion, I've arranged an interview with Kira Nerys actress Nana Visitor for Saturday. If you'd like to attend, either let me know or find us on Clubhouse on Saturday. 001
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 22/08/2026Probably best not to be like this Andorian woman talking to Spock – instead, don't feed the trolls! 😄 000
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 21/08/2026I LOVE that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has now done an it-was-all-a-dream episode. As someone for whom dreams have had major significance, I've had it on my tropes-in-Trek bingo card for ages. I also love seeing how controversial this trope has proven in Trek. Fascinating! 030
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 12/08/2026Here's an interview I recently did with the most recent episode of Star Trek! I hope you enjoy the read… 000
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 15/07/2026Yeeesss! I'm ecstatic that England lost to Argentina!!! ⚽👏 #worldcup 000
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 07/07/2026A massive improvement over James Gunn's Superman film, Supergirl is honestly one of the best superhero movies I've ever seen. 9 out of 10 000
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 07/07/2026The cinema I saw it in is one I can score off my bucket list of Scottish cinemas. I'd heard a lot of good things about this one and the Arc Cinema in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire delivered… in buckets! 100
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 07/07/2026Today, I finally got round to seeing the film Supergirl. I didn't think it was very good – I thought it was… Well, in a word? Flawless. The only sort of person I can imagine having any criticism about the film are the weak-as-f*** right-wing douchebags who feel threatened about strong women! 😂 110
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 03/07/2026To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, I'm organising a meetup and cinema trip to see the film in Edinburgh on Tuesday 8 September – specifically in Edinburgh because it's mentioned in the movie itself! Let me know if you'd be interested in attending 010
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 27/06/2026I'm pleased to see that this book, which I've helped a bit with, has now been announced. Highly recommended for any and all fans of DARK SHADOWS! 030
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 26/06/2026Travelled nearly all day to be here, one of several cinemas recommended to me in Scotland lately. This one is Cromarty Cinema, up near Inverness. It seems very remote to me, although a local informs me it's not local if you live here! 😂 The film on show today? The Godfather II. Legendary! 040

Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 24/06/2026Who are your favourite sci-fi authors? A few of mine are Phillip K. Dick, Harlan Ellison, Ursula K. Le Guin, Joseph Heller, Mary Shelley, and HG Wells. What about you? 📚👽✍️ 010
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 22/06/2026I'm currently searching for anyone who has worked on #StarTrek in any capacity, especially cast members, directors, editors, science consultants and writers of the episodes and films themselves & related media. So, if you've worked on Star Trek in any way, I'd love to make first contact with you. 🖖 020
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 21/06/2026I don't know what you're talking about. He was a tremendous parent! I have fond memories as a kid wishing he was my dad. There's a lot worse examples of fatherhood than him IRL. 000
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 19/06/2026Today, I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with @johnpicacio.bsky.social – the artist of @davidmack.pro 's forthcoming #StarTrek novel Echoes In Eternity. Now I'm very much looking forward to the book coming out in October. 🖖 0126
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 18/06/2026Today, I enjoyed visiting Aberdeen Art Gallery for a special one-evening-only exhibition. 3 floors of magic and illusions. Fascinating! 🖖 #abdnpsych 010
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 14/06/2026I was very excited about attending Trek Long Island this year. Just looked up the dates and oh… it's already over, having finished yesterday! The struggle with timekeeping due to autism is so real… Anyway, I hope everyone who did attend had a great time. Maybe next year, I'll finally manage to go! 041
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 11/06/2026Since the most recent run of Doctor Who is finishing, who would you like to be the new Doctor and the new series showrunner? 000
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 02/06/2026Are there any Scottish fans of Star Trek and/or rock music on here? 🏴 🤔🖖 000
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 30/05/2026I was looking forward to watching Star City. But why has it got lots of British actors playing ostensibly Russian characters, not even attempting a Russian accent? Takes me right out of the program! On the other hand, I have been enjoying Them, The Plot Against America and The Boroughs recently. 010
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 23/05/2026Tonight, I enjoyed a cinema trip to see the new Star Wars film, The Mandalorian and Grogu. Though I wouldn't say it's a perfect movie, it's still pretty good. I'd rate it 3.5 out of 5. 000
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 22/05/2026Just finished a 3-hour interview with a writing staffer from the TV series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy who was a blast to speak with! The interview was delightful and I'm now majorly excited to see the show's second season. 020
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 09/05/2026This weekend, let's be punch! Peaceful Understanding Neighbourly Caring Humanity 040
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 06/05/2026I'm also glad the right person went to jail. You don't get away with inspiring so many people to commit violence and think you can get away with it scot free! It's the ending that The Dark Knight should have had, had it been a half-decent movie. 000
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 06/05/2026I didn't much enjoy Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again in general – I was beginning to get a bit bored with "Kingpin," aka Fisk, since he's been in absolutely every season of Daredevil. But the finale set things up well for whatever comes next. 110
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 18/04/2026Last night, I wrote a lot about something I'd spent a long time hesitating over. Since my laptop seemed to have a WiFi connection issue, I went to sleep unsure if what I'd written had saved. But today, I awoke to find it had indeed been saved. Crisis averted! 😂 030
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 14/04/2026Agreed. Overuse of the word has, ever since childhood, taken me out of a lot of books I've tried to read. It's honestly a pet peeve, together with first-person perspective (the latter I've learned to tolerate in short stories but god knows how anyone manages to deal with it through entire novels!). 010
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 14/04/2026So often, writing advisers recommend using "said" instead of other dialogue tags because it somehow "disappears" for readers. Does anyone else find that, in reality, overuse of the word "said" is unimaginative and even annoying? I'd love to find out your thoughts about this. 110
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 11/04/2026Tonight, I checked out Send Help. Lots of fun – no help required! 000
Dan Leckie @dleckie.bsky.social · 07/04/2026What questions would you like to ask the writing staff of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, if you could ask them anything? (Keep it clean, please. Haters will be blocked.) 212
