I use subtitles on Zoom/Teams all the fucking time, for the same reason. The auto-captioning and transcription services on those have been so helpful. They're not perfect, but they're good enough and what I need in order to more fully participate.

You're not. I watch TV with subtitles on half the time because the audio mixture is so bad, the dialog seems to be a tertiary concern, at best. Or the accent is *just* strong enough I need the extra help for clarity. And that's just for TV.
