Did Morgan Freeman spend the entire ‘90s investigating grisly murder scenes and staying one step behind demented serial killers, reflecting internally on the shabby state of humanity? Not a bad spot. ...

Is this what happened to James Woods in real life? First time watching.  Have seen clips my whole movie viewing life.  Lives up to its billing.  Prescient since day one, but maybe screens taking over ...

This was pretty good.  In an age of multi-session at least partially distracted viewing it was almost impossible to follow, other than the broader strokes.  Ex Nazi and American cohorts want to kill D...

We all go a little mad sometimes.   An early psychological thriller outside the Hitchcock vein.  The movie hangs on whether or not you buy the descent into madness.  The first half of the movie played...

In between The Godfathers and Goodfellas, Magia movies were filled with farce.  Plenty of violence but played for laughs- Prizzi’s Honor, Married to the Mob, The Freshman…  Mob wives as a subgenre had...

Okay I finished rewatching all the big screen Spideys.  Did I miss the party?   This was such a big deal, and led to the even bigger, all-time smash of Brand New Day, but I had the sense even walking ...

This is on the short list of Marty movies that don’t feel like his.  It’s hard to find him in it.   It’s not that you necessarily need- -New York setting -organized crime -Rolling Stones -Keitel, DeNi...

My interest in Muppet literary adaptations always started and ended with Dickens but you know what?  Tim Curry is the reason to watch this one anyway.

Long slow best picture rewatch in anticipation of the 100th Oscars. Amadeus is the kind of movie you conjure when you’re thinking of stuffy Oscar period films.  And when you get around to watching, yo...

Torn between mild rebuke and mild praise.  I’m fluent in late 20th century pop culture, not so much modern gamer.   The creator’s quest and interactions with the seekers (Rogerebert.com review pointed...

This may have been a fun event but it is an empty endeavor of a film. It’s a lavish episode of Succession without the bite- corporate empires rising and falling over private jet meetings and backroom ...

Early LA punk.  A notable stop along the road from Iggy Pop to CBGB to Blink-182.

No movie has ever splashed so much superhero mythology across the screen.  No winking or ironic distance (but plenty of laughs).  It’s all there.   My kids are going to grow up with Miles as Spider-ma...
