I have been obsessed with “Don’t Disturb This Groove” since I heard it on the radio in 1987. The LP is still in the part of my record collection that lives in my parents’ house and I don’t remember any of the other songs on it but I’ve never regretted buying it

I always liked “Rat In Mi Kitchen” on its own merits but the mental image i created of my bodybuilder brother nodding his head to the chorus was far preferable than the actual memory of watching him lie unresponsive in a hospital bed for five weeks before dying of a lung infection

This is also why UB40 is getting my bonus. After he passed away, I ended up with most of his CDs, which included Rat in the Kitchen. He was 9 years older than me so he’d been away from home since I was in third grade; one of the ways I tried to get to know him after he died was through his albums

Prince is an obvious choice here; even if I wasn’t already a fan, Parade was my oldest brother’s favorite Prince album and this was his favorite song on it. It doesn’t devastate me the same way SISIA does due to the sentiment but I do get a little emotional when I think about it

That’s probably a fairer assessment; I remember liking season 2 enough at the time but thinking that some of the shine was coming off, then season 3 hit and made me retroactively hate season 2
