I agree that 20 consecutive wins isn't the best metric. However, Billy Beane joined as a scout in 1990 and was appointed GM in 1997. And all the post-1992 playoffs appearances prior to 2002 happened while he was a GM. What do you mean by the "events of Moneyball"
