Yeah was great 😍 I reckon Derek B 'Bad young brother' is the hardest record ever to appear on TOTP. Emcee, Drum break, transformer scratch, touch of vocoder, Prince & WildStyle samples for a chorus 😀 Magic.

Mad to think he got on TOTP with a total sample fest in 88. R.I.P. Mr Harris

Sad to hear about UK Hip Hop producer Simon harris. Music of Life label had some bangin' tunes late 80s - early 90s. Lot of 'em got sampled on early Rave tunes. I put a little mash together 🎶

Music charts exactly 40 years ago today from Street Scene magazine - 23rd November 1985. Hip Hop, Reggae & Funk. Some crackin' tunes in there. Doug E Fresh on the cover - he showed up on Top Of The Pops this week too in '85.

Think he meant over reliance on sequencers & daws more than drum machines & synths there. He liked his LM1 💜 My clumsy post meant he probably LOVED the 808 but couldn't use it publicly 'cos it was 'their' thing now (Jam, Lewis, SOS) but who knows. Cheers for link 😎✌️

You just know that Prince ran out & bought an 808 after hearing the S.O.S. Band results 😃 bet there's some experiments in the vault 🕵️‍♂️

Ah they were okay - never pretended to be some hardcore dudes. Fun Jazzy Pop Rap tunes from what I remember. I used to play 'Very easy to assemble'
