Sad to hear about UK Hip Hop producer Simon harris. Music of Life label had some bangin' tunes late 80s - early 90s. Lot of 'em got sampled on early Rave tunes. I put a little mash together 🎶

Music charts exactly 40 years ago today from Street Scene magazine - 23rd November 1985. Hip Hop, Reggae & Funk. Some crackin' tunes in there. Doug E Fresh on the cover - he showed up on Top Of The Pops this week too in '85.

Blondie - Heart Of Glass. Every nerd knows the rhythm is a mix of live drums & CR78 drum machine. I took out the live drums & replaced them with a TR606. It's Debbie Harry's 80th birthday today - I added some clips of her lovely face instead of my stupid head 🥳

One of the classics. Bob James from '74. Fond memories of finding this in 80's Dublin - knew it had a break but never heard the full song. Couldn't get home on the bus quick enough to listen. Mind blown. #nautilus #jazzfusion #bobjames #idrismuhammad #garyking #creedtaylor #ctirecords

Early House crossover vibes. Group called Raze. These tunes remind me of McGonagles - the most important venue in Dublin during the late 80's. Magic nights like Club Voodoo, Soul On Ice, Sandino etc Respect to @carrport.bsky.social, Collie, Martin & crew. #80shouse

Still amazing that there's no bassline on 'When Doves Cry'. None on 'Kiss' either. Prince took them out on the final mix. Engineer Peggy McCreary: "The last thing he did was punch the bass out, smiled and said 'ain't nobody gonna believe I'd do this"
