I’m not convinced the benefits of AI in the disability space aren’t happy accidents resulting from unchecked greed. And for bad actors to try and spin that that’s who they really care about when there’s 20 new ways to optimize humanity away for every 1 accessibility update, it really pisses me off.

All the good I’ve personally encountered, like tools for making a communication device more efficient, voice cloning as a way to maintain identity when someone has a degenerative disease etc. are not the result of these tech companies setting out to improve the lives of anyone with a disability.
