I think Lune might be my cutest character on merit of also being one of my youngest; a big crybaby, gets easily excitable, and just acts like you'd expect a kid does. Has their comforts, is very clear about what they hate and tends to believe others a bit too readily.

Ive been through a lot of phases with mascot characters that people know me for, I frequently feel deep guilt for all the ones Ive been through that people wish i would draw again. Due to the condition of life I just have too little time and too many things Id like to draw in a day, but eventually.

Catmaid!! As a Jiangshi thing! It's been a long while, I don't draw Catmaid too much anymore but I love her deeply; she was sort of a launch platform for me to prove I could design appealing characters. I lack a lot of things other artists have but I pride myself on character recognisability.

some critters from the Perpetuus Umwelt! They come in all shapes and sizes but tend to mimic a combination of living creatures from our world, a lot of them (especially the larger predators) tend to have a gimmick that twists the rules of the umwelt.

right now that's precisely what the Paguroid does (pictured in the small lifeforms section.) It's a little bug that encases itself in a bar of collected silicone data so it doesn't have to forage all the time, when it's attacked itll break off from its body and scamper off with one segment.

it's essentially recreating our evolutionary science by forcing it's creatures to collect data, the more efficient the creature the longer it survives. The database is attempting to rationalise the flat data it's been given, deciphering it and creating a whole new world even if it's unaware of it.

Right now only simple primordial life running on basic scripts exist, they'll need a few hundred million years. Floral is indeed the only high intellect creature but one day the Umwelt will start catching up as it's creations chews up massive amounts of data for it to utilise in new lifeforms.

Told myself I'd post more about my process here even if they're just scraps. Here's how I frequently sketch out drawings when I wanna do my binary pen style; I'll do a sketch before sleep then start proper the next day, that sort of 'gnome leaving you a bad script' Simpsons writer process. It works!

all observant but not all knowing is a good way of putting it yes, omnipotent. Slowly sifting through data it doesnt understand and is totally profound to it, essentially combining random little data genomes together and seeing if whatever it spawns survives using data collection as a boilerplate.

pretty much, it's how evolution works in our world and the umwelt is attempting to mimic that, if an animal fails to hunt food and eat; it dies. If enough of that species fails then they become extinct. The umwelt will have new creatures spawned into it by a database so its not totally fullproof.

the scientists creating Floral realised that the database of the new world would likely treat her like a foreign object or a cancer cell, Im not sure what would really happen if she were detected but it might take the umwelt a few trillion years before it develops actual countermeasures.

It's likely the database isnt even aware, it's sheer size making it impossible to be a single entity. The database exists outside of the umwelt, it watches.

our (old) reality was absorbed by a inconceivably large database that flattened all the information from our old world and is now reconceptualising it as the perpetuus umwelt. I'm not totally sure on the details myself but I think of the database as an omnipresence thats experimenting with- 1/?

I added a bunch more about Floral and the world they live in! The Perpetuus Umwelt is a diverse realm with an abundance of primordial digitally based life. The umwelt actively produces and spawns these life forms to collect data for its supernormal database; failing to do so means starvation.
