The latest launch to the ISS was led by Jessica Watson, the first Black female crew commander of a crewed mission. It was also the fastest transit from launch to docking ever, at 7 hours and 55 minutes.

Foreign tourists are not coming to the US, and I can't fault them for staying away. I do hate it for those businesses that rely on tourist spending, but not for the ones who voted for it.

Saying you're fed up with Trump yet planning to vote for candidates who will back him in whatever he wants to do seems pretty stupid.

Suspending the gas tax takes money out of the fund used to repair roads and bridges. Damage to your vehicle from traveling on bad roads will cost more than you'd pay in fuel taxes. Suspending the tax is shortsighted.

My employer has entire departments that do not accept incoming calls. We communicate through Teams, email, and support tickets. Asking to be transferred won't work. They don't have a phone line to answer. Welcome to the 21st century. We'd be happy to send a message on your behalf.

I'm pretty certain that when photography started to replace landscape and portrait painting, there were scary warnings and people saying photography wasn't art. Photography was going to put artists out of work.

DoorDash spent $1.4M trying to stop Zohran Mamdani from becoming mayor. This week's historic $131.5M enforcement action against DoorDash for underpaying NYC delivery workers shows why. Yet another reminder that the only thing that can beat organized money is organized people.

Before Jeffrey Epstein became a front-page story, one of my favorite GenX references was to the show "Welcome Back, Kotter!" involving needing a note from Juan Epstein's mom. Now, I'm forced to remove that reference from my lexicon for fear of having to explain myself to everyone who doesn't get it.

The fact that we don't even have weekly Pentagon press briefings or any press embedded with the units involved in the war with Iran is something we need to be more concerned about. The foreign press has been covering this war better than our own media has been allowed to.

I remember back in the 80s, you could buy a cheap Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner for around $100, and it would last about a year with regular use. You could spend $300 on a nice vacuum that would last 10-15 years with regular use. Cheap can cost more in the long run.

Dynamic pricing is nothing new. Businesses have priced products or services based on who you are, who your friends are, whether you're male or female, your race or ethnicity, and many other factors you might not have been aware of at the time. You're mad about a price set by tech, not a person.

A major pet peeve is when someone fakes being offended just to fit in with their peers, then comes back later to say they weren't really offended but didn't want to reveal their true thoughts on the matter in front of other people. It makes me wonder if anything they say has any credibility.

Why do people think it's so odd to notice patterns of behavior in others? At my last apartment, I knew my neighbors' patterns. It's not that I wanted to know their patterns. Daily exposure taught me their patterns. Believe it or not, most people do the same things repeatedly.

"The Ark" (SYFY) is the type of show I would have enjoyed when I was 14. As a mature adult, I struggle to get past its shortcomings, especially with premium sci-fi shows available. It's like cold leftover pizza when hot, fresh pizza is available. It takes the edge off, but it doesn't satisfy.

Why are the same 3-4 advertisers on digital media? If you listen to podcasts, you'll hear the same ads from the same 3-4 advertisers on repeat. If you watch ad-supported streaming TV or movies, you get the same 3-4 ads on repeat. Why isn't there more variety?

Have you noticed that the media loves to grab one court case and give it the whole "Lindbergh baby" level of coverage, as if that's the only legal matter anyone should be concerned about right now? They want to make everyone concerned about the outcome of a case that won't affect their lives at all.

When one side is convinced they can only get 100% of the deal in their favor or there will be no deal, nobody wins. If you can't categorize your terms as must have, should have, would be nice to have, and not important at all, you're not really negotiating.
