But WHY though? WHY? It is so unclear! We are bamboozled by this result! What could possibly have contributed to such a turn of events?

Happy International Lesbian Day! May I present Kinsha and Grace, lesbian freedom fighters in the apocalyptic wastelands of Trinidad. From my queer dystopian novella THIS IS HOW THE WORLD ENDS, out now! Art by @biteythevillain.bsky.social

“Dear Barrington…” The author marketing scam emails can’t even figure out which one is my first name. Barrington is not my first name, Disco is. I know Disco doesn’t seem like a first name, but it was given to me in the mid 2000s when I would dance for 48 hrs straight every weekend and it’s MINE.

I loved this book by @drewhuff.bsky.social so much! A creepy family of monster dentists retaliate when a big box Halloween store takes over their warehouse lair. Weird, gross, scary, utterly compelling. Tons of toothy fun! Publishing on 13th October from @nefariousbatpress.bsky.social 📚💙

The Exodontists by Drew Huff. A family of ghostly humanoids in a warehouse.

They can, but if they do it they get the rights for 70 years. We’re trying to find a workaround!

*I don’t actually mind sending my book to the British Library. Bloody love the British Library. The fact that it is a requirement is not advertised however, at all.

When I became an author I was not prepared for this much admin. What do you mean copyright isn’t automatic? WHY do I have to send my book to the British Library? There’s a Society? That I am strongly advised to join? News to me! I thought it was all artistic despair and poverty. WHAT IS THIS?

It’s an incredible feeling when an interviewer says your book is their #1 favourite of the year! I was recently interviewed by @christinapfeiffer.bsky.social for Uncomfortably Dark, talking about my queer dystopian novella THIS IS HOW THE WORLD ENDS. 📚💙 www.uncomfortablydark.com/post/10-2-26...

PayPal have already said no refund sadly, but we’re holding out hope that it will be simply cancelled or something, let’s see!

Disco Barrington 🏳️‍⚧️ Author @discobooks.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Right?! What I’m hoping is that they’ll just cancel the whole thing and refund everyone

120

Disco Barrington 🏳️‍⚧️ Author @discobooks.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

We’re in the process of trying to get refunds for our tickets. I’d never been before and was excited but yeah, no, this is terrible.

110

Disco Barrington 🏳️‍⚧️ Author @discobooks.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Wow, the RARE disaster is really snowballing. Hundreds of authors are no longer attending, in solidarity with the queer community. We’re all trying to get ticket refunds. Small queer book conventions are trying to change their dates so authors who have already booked travel can exhibit somewhere.

I’m so obsessed with The Prosecutor’s Proposal! I watched Thundercloud Rainstorm, TPP, and KinnPorsche all in one week and it cemented by BL obsession - it’s all I watch now!

Thai BL actor Zee and my favourite Korean BL actor Kim Yoonsik just appeared at the Yohji Yamamoto show at Paris Fashion Week! I’m SO happy to see actors from queer Asian shows being promoted on such a global stage. (I know fashion is elitist but I briefly worked in it and can’t help myself)

It’s October and I’m in shorts and a vest getting a tan. In ENGLAND. We should be knee deep in blankets right now. It should be raining. There should be moors. Hot men in long coats should be striding across them. With wet hair and billowing white shirts and a tasteful amount of mud, damn it.

Did my first reading as an author! Read an extract from THIS IS HOW THE WORLD ENDS as part of @spacemagiccon.bsky.social, a queer SFF virtual convention. The con is still on tomorrow, and it’s all FREE. www.rainbowspacemagic.org

If you think an artist's style looks like AI but you can scroll back through their portfolio and see them doing the same work before 2020, congrats, you're not looking at an AI grifter. You're looking at one of the original victims whose entire style AI stole.

I would love to, now. Simply because they’re so influential that I feel like I’m missing out. And I’ve enjoyed so many movie adaptations that perhaps those have indirectly had an impact on my writing. However, I didn’t watch THE LONG WALK until beta readers for THIS IS HOW THE WORLD ENDS told me to.

I’m ashamed to say I have never read any Stephen King. I watched IT and MISERY way too young and always refused to read any of his books. I’m too scared. So it’s hilarious to me that readers keep assuming Stephen King is an influence on my work. Doesn’t bother me though, it’s just funny.
