You know you’re in for a good time when the plot synopsis on Wikipedia is: The only plot presented at the beginning of the game is "suddenly, at locations everywhere, beasts have begun to appear and attack people".

TIL That the Canadian version of How It's Made had a different narrator than the rest of the world. Watching streams with the US narrator is like I'm living in a mirror world or something, this is so strange

Leo Oliveira posting on Twitter “MechaPwn folks are at it again. "XPEN" (X-Protection Enable) pin of the error correction DSP chip was discovered to be the toggle selection to turn on/off the behavior of -1 DSPs used on DTL-H hardware. This pin is pulled up internally by a resistor. Left unbonded in retail ICs.”

If you're ever short of screws, take something apart and put it together again. This is where screws come from and a part of nature

After sitting on my desk in pieces for almost a year now, I finally buttoned up my Python 1 again to go back on the shelf. Anything I need from here out can be done over software, feels good to hit this point. I somehow missed a single screw, which will forever haunt me until my death.

@libby.bsky.social’s MechaLIBerator is now open source! Has real hardware risks so please only do it if you‘re comfortable. That said, if you have any dumps not in the list, please share so I can update it!

A fun fact is that this type of game is one of the only explicitly NSFW titles for the Nintendo 64 hardware, "Vivid Dolls". Technically it's for the Aleck 64 arcade hardware, but it is officially licensed...

Thanks to the helpful ps2 community and a very close call semi-brick of a rare variant, we now have verified dumps of every North American SPC970 mechacon 🎉 Any Australians willing to burn some life out of their eeprom for preservation let me know, lots of gaps there!

SPC970 Based MechaCon LIBeration testing is going well. Initially only V2 compatible, but now we have first V3 dump!! Still harsh on hardware, so careful dumping continues. Progress so far going well! Will share full write-up on how we got here soon!

After 4 years of effort, I'm happy to announce that one of the final secrets of the PS2 has been broken wide open! It's been a long process of decapping, optical dumping, and now at last a software solution. Thank you @libby.bsky.social for finding the exploit from our dirty optical dumps!

Last night I ported the classic Bad Apple!! to the V.Smile, a relatively obscure childrens game console from 2004. I started this back in February and gave up for a while because I could never get the audio to work correctly. Glad I came back to it! Thanks @disco.camp for making this possible!

Lookout world! PCSX2-Reliquary's upcoming cue file support means a new music player is on the scene! You just need your music ripped as a .cue/.bin and to dump your ps2 bios, but then you'll be able to play your sweet sweet tunes. Please pay no attention to the cpu or gpu load graphs, irrelevant

In your life there will be multiple milestones you will reach where you will need to build a Billy bookshelf. And every time, the way you attach the back panel will change. Seems to be the most promising yet!

Stuntman has always been a fantastic game, but it got little play time on my ps2 because the load times dragged it out. Being able to fast forward the loading screens at 8x speed certainly makes this a lot more fun!
