Week 3 of Moviedrome S1 re-enactment, and 1981's "Diva", the breakthrough film of the burgeoning French "Cinéma du look" movement. Style? Substance? Does it hold up? Watch along (or share your back-in-the-day thoughts) and do go comment on the community thread of my YouTube channel. Thanks!

Week 2 of the Moviedrome Rewatch Project, and "Electra Glide In Blue" (1973). New Hollywood outlier? Countercultural oddity? Existential procedural? Watch along yourself this weekend and feel free to comment on the community post on my YouTube channel. Cheers!

#My9Albums As close as I can get...a combination of big-deal "at the time" records, and ones that make me feel exactly the same when I hear them now, as they did when I first heard them.

Kicking off an epic week-by-week Moviedrome rewatch with friends, starting tonight with "The Wicker Man" in the traditional MD slot. I'll be making some videos about the films themselves soon enough...to begin with though, a brief intro to Moviedrome itself. Link below. Thx! youtu.be/RiDNiTEtkQM

Shoptalk! YouTube's "improved" stats inflate view numbers, whilst having zero impact on watch time. The algo's still fully focused on maximising YT's ad revenue. The fake thrill of seeing a few more (irrelevant) clicks is there to make small channels feel like they're getting a fair crack? Pffft!

First video in over a month...it's been a long, hot summer, no? Anyway, finally tackling a biggie for me, namely American Music Club, a very big deal for me circa the early '90s. Some history, some thoughts, and plenty of track selections along the way. Thanks for looking! youtu.be/q0B6rbvEV7w

Hey all! Been neglecting the '90s of late, so time for a classic EP of post-something-or-other guitar noise, namely June of '44 and "The Anatomy Of Sharks". Includes (possibly) the best track they ever produced, the epic 11-minute "Sharks And Sailors". I go on about it here. youtu.be/AJGzI0duLv0

Final weekend bump for this before hitting the road on familial duties. My attempt at "Beefheart For Dummies"...a slowly escalating 20-track playlist from his most approachable, to his most inscrutable. A few faves jettisoned in the name of education, but thems the breaks. youtu.be/M8v3MuzuxkQ

Never Mind The Trout Mask! Beefheart worship tends to congregate around "that" album, which asks a a lot of new listeners. Here's my 20-track Beefheart crash-course, from "easy" to "hard". Yes, I end up at Trout Mask, but there's a ton of fun to be had along the way. Cheers! youtu.be/M8v3MuzuxkQ

Potenital YouTube viewers. Trigger warning! Video comments that contain the phrase "The algorithm brought me here!" WILL make me think less of you. The algorithm points you towards stuff it thinks you'll like. You actually know what you like. Own it. Use 'Search'. You're better than this.
