A 10K contribution and a $900 million return. The scale of the graft in Homeland Security is a) off the charts and b) possible because no-one believes they will face any accountability

You see, the benevolent dictator is more efficient, but only if he acts in my interests. What happens then, when there is a benevolent dictator who acts on behalf of others and brings harm to me? How do we prevent that? Oh, I guess you haven't read that far yet.

This analysis, which absolves all responsibility of voters, is something we have been doing for way too long and should stop doing. Many people in Brazil like the fascist-lite! Just like many Americans and several other populations do.

Ya it's been cooked for a while. Political scientists were so irrationally confident in it too. Wait for the next UK election to stick the nail in it.

2006 was the bonkers one! They stopped the Pats on 4th down to almost assuredly win it, but instead of knocking the ball down, the DB intercepted it and then fumbled back to Pats. An underrated all time mind-losing loss.

Also, wtf is the relevance of that date? The conspiracy was some sort of clean up control for her bungling a prosecution with an affair? Jack Smith was going to conspire with her to do exactly what...retract her admission and declare Trump guilty? Clown show.

It would be a monumental improvement for America, but especially for the Republican Party, if we elected the President through a plurality vote.

Vought is breaking the law but he is not “going rogue.” At his confirmation hearings, Vought told Republicans he would do this and they voted for him anyway. If they want to stop him, they still can via impeachment. They won’t.

The post pandemic period has produced a surging amount of millionaire households. Our collective net worth has gone from $109 trillion to $174 trillion. People don't like to hear this because it adds nuance to the wealth inequality debate.

@vermontgmg.bsky.social pushes for "a long, long, long series of consequences" when Democrats take charge: "We need to return to punishing people who do obvious crimes. Make Crimes Criminal Again." His list of such crimes is devastating (and only partial). www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/it-s-the-a...

Glad you can post this in your safe space, but this is just obviously true. You literally laughed and picked fights with other modelers who were less confident than you on the 2020 election and then had a bugged out/broken model for 2024 that had to be taken down. Seems pretty sloppy.

Well maybe speaks to your social circle! And many times people are just ideologically incoherent as the OP implies, but moderates exist in small numbers. Small numbers can matter!

True a lot fewer moderates a lot fewer swing voters than they used to be. But fewer is not 0.

The US already got a do over. A mulligan. A second chance. Much of the world, especially US allies, were ready to write off Trump’s first term as a fluke. The American people’s choice to put him back in power—as a convicted felon, after an openly bigoted, anti-democracy campaign—showed it was not.

I used to teach Mozi in my intro to philosophy course. Was such a a nice change up from trolly problem stuff, challenging people to actually consider Western principles (equality of all) in contexts that are realistic and uncomfortable (favoring your family over strangers).

Agree. I believe it is a correct assessment. But that is in no way a refutation of my point which is that it is *dumb* to do what AES did one day before the primary. Very easy to make Piker "not a story." Fail.
