Dryburgh Abbey, Borders (Scotland) 'Historic Scotland' image & reconstruction mock-up. Abbey burnt by invading English forces in 1322, 1385 & 1544 during the Wars of Rough Wooing, leading to Ancrum Moor where English Commander, Sir Ralph Evers was skinned for desecrating the Border Abbeys.

This impressive medieval arch stands alone in the middle of the countryside, very close to Sasamón (Burgos). It is the only vestige of the disappeared church of San Miguel de Mazarreros, parish church of a village that was uninhabited. @arteviajero.com info/image turned into a reconstruction Gif.

The Cave across from Fidra Isle is claimed by oral history to be where Sawney Bean lived as a child. He moved to the West of Scotland & became a Cave dweller there with his Wife & 46 inbred children/grandchildren a Cannibal Clan feasting on over 1,000 Tourists in 25 years.

Eilean Donan Castle mock-up with original barmkin idea. Nigel Tranter told me a story of a siege of the Castle where the enemy commander thought he was just out of garrison arrow range but it hit him in the big toe. He pulled it out but bled to death where he fell #NigelTranter

My 1984 watercolour of Threave Castle, Galloway (Scotland) Keep built by Archibald 'The Grim' Douglas in 1369. Castle bombarded by King James II in 1455. Garrison bribed to surrender. Castle gunner brought into King's service. King killed at Roxburgh by cannon accident in 1460.
