There is a small amount of bokeh / overexposure in the top right corner as it is taken into the sun. In the distance you can see the Remutaka and Ōrongorongo Ranges, Mātiu / Somes Island, and in the right of the image you can see the two Tāniwha (monsters?) Whataitai (foreground) and Ngāke (rear). Ngāke is known as the Miramar Peninsula or Te Motukairangi. In the foreground of the image, there are Cordyline Australis (ssp.) / Cabbage Tree / Tī Kouka.

Pōhutukawa #metrosideros #ironwood in Karori, Wellington.

A steep street in a suburb of Wellington, the capital of New Zealand. The sky is a very vivid blue colour, and is cloudless. The subject is a tree with more than one crown. The tree has a vivid mid to dark green foliage, with crimson foliage. It is a Pōhutukawa, or NZ Ironwood tree - or NZ's Christmas tree.

The 'peoples picket' at the Guardian/Observer offices this morning. A great turnout in support of staff, who are rightly concerned about the future of both titles.
