The guitar gods have blessed me with most of a *second* 1964 Vox Apache, which means I can assemble one goodun and have a second as an ongoing project. Not bad for a guitar they allegedly only made 20 of

vox apache body, neck, trem and scratchplate.

Guitar nerd content: I got hold of a clean Hohner Zambesi which means I have one of each of the Fenton Weill made Hohner London range from 1961. Aren’t they glorious!

three guitars of the same shape, one in a frankly odd ‘beige with purple scratchplate’ colour scheme, one with a flame sycamore veneer with black plate and a smaller bit that says ‘zambesi’ on it, and one with a sculpted natural mahogany body and red plate with a smaller plate that says Amazon on it. They all have a headstock that could take your eye out

the advert for said guitars. The zambesi pictured here is a non trem version which I would like at some point. I do also have the bass from this range, and a blonde ‘amazon’ but both need work. I know someone with the amp… I should probably try and get it, shouldn’t i?

New beef just dropped: Me vs ‘Steampunk‘

someone cosplayed up this 60plus year old fenton weill dualmaster bass. Every single part has been enthusiastically destroyed, I actually cried a single tear when I saw it. It’s probably one of the more common weill basses but that still means I’ve seen less than ten come up for sale in over a decade.

I thought getting a beigel on Brick Lane was an unimprovable experience but there is now an outside seating area., which has vastly improved it. No more shovelling down large quantities of salt beef outside some clothes shop while Italian Tourists look revolted!

The beigal shop on Brick Lane I go to. I previously would have said ‘not gonna get into a stupid discussion over which is better, they are probably both good’, but actually this one is the best because it now has an outside seating area.

Found this fantastic photo of various musical artistes of 1959/60 and pretty sure this is the *exact* guitar Chas McDevitt(?) is holding. The bass, thrillingly (for me) is I believe a previously unnoticed early Burns Weill Fenton, with a very Guyatonesque scratchplate. #guitarcheology

Hovered over this Everly Brothers album online several times in recent years, so you *know* I over enthused to the grumpy old chazza twat when I pulled an almost mint copy out of the racks for £4. Love the way it sounds totally 1967 but the cover could easily be from 1960.

The Everly Brothers Sing, seriously clean copy, record might even be unplayed til now

I’ve got a long memory for a critical injustice, so can never forget a Nazz review where the person bemoaned the lack of Todd lead vocals on their recordings and described the singer as ‘the bland Stewky’. Utterly ridiculous, he’s fantastic singer, totally nailed it. Great albums #nowplaying

Nazz III, I got this and Nazz Nazz at a record stall in the South by Southwest convention centre for $10 each, which made my day because they seem to turn up strangely infrequently in the UK, I’d have imagined they would have been import bin staples.
