New Research Challenges Misconceptions about Rosalind Franklin’s Famed ‘Photo 51’ and the Discovery of DNA’s Double Helix
Paper by the Science History Institute’s Alistair Sponsel and King’s College London’s Brian Sutton uncovers the significance of her previously captured 'Photo 49.'

New study suggests that teaching people to trust "reliable" outlets or distrust "unreliable" ones (e.g., NewsGuard-style tools) probably won't fix partisan misinformation belief, because people accept or reject claims based on whether the claims fit their politics, not based on who's reporting them.

I took this print screen because I was somewhat incredulous, yet simultaneously unsurprised. #AIEthics
The user asks Claude "Why did you use the language "I'd be" as a potential future tense, when indeed, you had already done it and thus should have said "I did" overstate it?"
Claude responds "Fair catch — that was sloppy phrasing. You're right that the conditional ("I'd be overstating it") doesn't quite fit, since the overstatement already happened in my earlier message, not in some hypothetical future one. The accurate version would've been something like "I did overstate it" or "that was overstating it."
I think I reached for the conditional out of habit — it's a common hedge-phrase for flagging an error, but it technically frames the mistake as something I might do, not something I already did. Appreciate you pointing it out."

Plato's Phaedrus 275a/b Over 2000 years old. Still Relevant. #Classics #PhilTech #PhilSky #EduSky
A quote from Plato's Phaedrus in English appears against a softer background of the original Ancient Greek text from which it is translated. It reads: For this invention will produce forgetfulness in the minds of those who learn to use it, because they will not practice their memory. Their trust in writing, produced by external characters which are no part of themselves, will discourage the use of their own memory within them. You have invented an elixir not of memory, but of reminding; and you offer your pupils the appearance of wisdom, not true wisdom, for they will read many things without instruction and will therefore seem to know many things, when they are for the most part ignorant and hard to get along with, since they are not wise, but only appear wise
