Rattober days 5-7! We're getting weird :) Day 5: Stinky rat Day 6: Ratio Day 7: Steamer rat Having a bit of travel posting more than three images right now, so I'm omitting the prompt list - but you can check it out on my past posts or over on Instagram :)

3 loaded hotdogs, with the central one covered in relish and onions and replaced with a photoshopped head of a blushing naked rat. The bottom half of the "rat dog" is comically pixelated out. A clamshell is also photoshopped into the image. The joke is that this rat was named Geoduck, and he is depicted like a gooey duck with his Shell taken off.

I'm going to start cross-posting some of my favorite daily sketches from Cara, I like Bluesky and want to keep contrituting over here! This was inspired by “If I Must Die", written by Refaat Alareer, who was murdered by Israel in Gaza alongside his siblings and their children on December 6, 2023.

My weekend doodling project has been this scene of fishing with Maurice, who is probably a badger. I'm still fighting with the tablet a bit, but did manage to get into a rhythm. My digital linework leaves a lot to be desired, someday maybe I'll crack getting some of the 'soul' of pencil in digital.

Trying to turn some of our evening couch time into sketch time. I have lost a lot of my confidence sketching; it is frustrating to remember my hands when they knew what they were doing far better, but it is satisfying to shake some of the rust off. Nothing beats practice.

Right, it is on the PDF which most people don't know how or care to remove; Since it is on every page of and not easy to disable, I would definitely seek a PDF without it if I was routinely reading these. I think as a way to inform/assure casuals like me it works, but it is annoying to read around!

Howl has been having partial seizures; he went into ER yesterday and is at the vet today. Here's hoping it is an infection or something and not a pituitary tumor, but we are prepared for the worst 🤞✨🐀❤️‍🩹

Sadly Statler can no longer eat comfortably, and we are saying goodbye tonight. It's always tempting to ride it out a little longer, but after the rapid growth post surgery and two types of unsuccessful chemo we'd rather be safe than sorry when it comes to his comfort. We love you little buddy 💚

💚 RIP sweet Enoki 💚 Enoki was one of our pet rats, not a sanctuary resident. The county shelter thought she was a mouse, and we got her at just 6 weeks old. We let her go last night at almost 3 years and 3 months old. We miss you already lil girl ❤️‍🩹🐀🌈

Enoki a few days ago at over 3 years old peeling out of a yellow hide with her tongue sticking out. She had an ear infection and brain tumor causing a head tilt and poor coordination plus hind limb degeneration and a bad ulcer in her right eye, but stayed enthusiastic right up until the end. What an amazing girl.

Apparently my Ratapalooza post experienced an error and never got posted! We got to table for the first time at Ratapalooza in Lacey, WA and had a total blast. Cute pet rats and animal lovers abounded -and we won the cage decorating contest (though the Doctor Who cage was excellent competition)!

Stickers, paintings by rats, and plenty of donated crafts - all profits went to our vet care fund!

We also had a decked out cage with lots of natural enrichment, resident character cards, and success stories out for people to check out 💚🐀💚

And of course I habitually started preparing her spoon for morning meds.. ouch Twice every day she got her doxycycline for respiratory issues in coconut whipped cream, she loved spoon time for the year she had with us more than anything 🥄💚

Our sweet Darby came to us with her fey-sister Rhys last April. Always adventurous, lately, she stopped being her bright self. Despite treatment, last night we held her in our arms as she passed away. She was so, so loved. We'll see her tonight, darting in the northern lights. Miss you Darbs 💔🐀🌈

We began treatment for a pituitary tumor, but we aren't sure what happened. RIP Darby 💚
