For sure! I already have a decent nest egg set up. Not enough to last me 6 months worth of pay, as many suggest. But I wouldn't be in dire straits if I lost my job tomorrow.
I will say...the one benefit about renting versus owning is that the roof could tear off and it wouldn't be my problem! :P
