Kingdom Come: Deliverance 1 and 2 are pretty close to that ideal! There's also a bunch of CRPGs that are more linear at the beginning, but open up later on - UnderRail, Wasteland, Divinity: Original Sin 1 and 2

As a serial-kickstart supporter: • Global shipping issues means no physical copies outside country of origin usually • Money is tight(er than usual) • Christmas is close - people are saving up for presents This may be off-base. Creators probably have better stats. Just to give supporters view 😅

I am still waiting for the day a potential employer asks what marks I got on my MSc thesis... Much less whether I got an A or a B in Maths in High School 😅 And ye, job market is trash. Gotta get lucky and/or have a very niche skillset. Started working in my actual field only 3 years ago.

Ah, okay, you're from the UK! But yeah, teachers want kids to learn and thrive. Unfortunately, the current incentive structure only works for a very narrow subsection of kids - usually at great cost to mental health. Ofsted seems like a solid way to go! Personally I'm partial to the Finnish model

There isn't really a good alternative, but I wonder if trying to "reform" the school system is even possible if the foundation is rotten? Also, on top of humanities - shout out to my STEM teachers for inspiring me to be curious about how the world works!

In theory, the companies would be forking the bill through taxation, but that's a joke these days Modern schooling as a concept is more or less tainted by the fact that it started out as a ploy for companies to get higher skilled workers with minimal contribution to training

Call of Cthulhu It melded my love of TTRPGs and cosmic horror! To this day, nothing beats it in my eyes as an investigative (horror) game. It hits the perfect crunch balance for me and the % system is surprisingly intuitive

D&D 5e The first game I really cut my teeth on as a GM. I tried to bend it to all my needs and kept getting frustrated. I still play it to this day, but I avoid anything that isn't "high heroics fantasy" when it comes to this system

Serious question: Do you think a TTRPG being "fun" is a good metric for judging if it's good or not? I would say no, since with a great group of friends you can pull fun out of watching paint dry, but I'd be interested in hearing other viewpoints!

Regret Tangientally related, but I regret that I never got into LARP back in university when I still had time for that kind of stuff. It was always so cool to see friends making costumes and props. Just wish I took the plunge instead of telling myself "next time I'll join!"

Grit I was too young, but through tales this hobby was difficult in ex-Soviet countries. English was rarely a second language and everything disseminated here much slower. Hell, there were people who straight up learned Swedish just so they could play KULT and Drakar och Demoner. Crazy times
