Come to think of it, my tools will be available up to and including Unity 6.5, and the same tools will also be available on Godot.

Right now, I'm noticing that a lot of people are interested in my products especially my tools for game dev, even though I've scaled back my promotion of them #GameDev #IndieDev #DevTool #ItchIo

My tools that are coming soon and compatible with Godot are my Unity Card Game Toolkit—which will become the Godot Card Game Toolkit—and my level editor, which I'm currently developing.

I'm on the fence about releasing my tool to make level design in Unity easier. Well, my friend Godot developers, you'll see my tools available on Godot soon. #GameDev #IndieDev #Unity3D #IA

Either the “vibe coders” create a mediocre video game, or—when they do create an excellent video game—the idea and game design are stolen from another creator (a video game studio or an independent solo developer) to address a game design problem. #GameDev #IndieDev #CardGame

I see a lot—and I mean a lot—of “vibe coders” creating games without having any design skills whatsoever. These are the same people who think that all you need to create a great game is the ability to code #GameDev #IndieDev #CardGame

Whenever I talk about my projects (tools, games), I’m always afraid that some Bro AI jerk will steal my ideas and market them before I do. But the problem is, if I don’t promote my projects, no one will know what I’m doing. Let’s stand together against these thieves #gamedev #indiedev #ia

Someone recreated my game with AI and is now threatening to publish it on Steam unless I pay him $200. Obviously, I'm not paying. First video: my actual game. Second video: the AI-generated clone. He apparently found my game through Twitter, fed it into an AI tool, and recreated what he saw. Now…

To make an excellent card game, you need to focus a lot on balancing. And to help you focus on that, I've created the Unity Card Game Toolkit for you. diane-claus.itch.io/cardgametool... #GameDev #CardGame #IndieDev #BoardGame

A new argument from bros AI “Yes, we have the right to use generative AI in our games because AAA studios do it.” You know I'm boycotting Level-5 and other AAA studios for their use of generative AI #AI #GameDev #AAA

It's true that it's hard to polish everything—especially the balance—to make an excellent card game. And yes, the early access versions counted.

It's the easiest to produce, but it's hard to make an excellent JBuilder roguelike because many game developers cut corners on assets. In fact, I've created a toolkit to make the task even easier: the Unity Card Game Toolkit diane-claus.itch.io/cardgametool... #GameDev #IndieDev #CardGame #Steam

As a reminder, 212 roguelike deckbuilders had been released, and 11 of them had surpassed 1,000 Steam reviews While it's true that only 5.1% but they are less expensive than multiplayer FPS games and open-world games. #GameDev #IndieDev #CardGame #Steam

If you want well-coded frameworks, you should focus primarily on those available on the Unity Asset Store for Unity and Fab Lab for Unreal Engine (because they prevent their marketplaces from being flooded with poor-quality frameworks by vetting them).

You can find these frameworks directly on the Unity Asset Store, Fab Lab, Gumroad, Itch io, or even on other marketplaces. Some of them are even free.

It’s also worth noting that code written by a human for a framework is much cleaner than code generated by AI, because the developer has time to learn the basics of programming and become familiar with design patterns.

I've also noticed that a lot of vibe coder don't playtest their games. Sure, the game is functional, but it has a lot of game design issues, as in this example

Why was I saying that? Because the developers who created these frameworks have already used their own frameworks to build their own games, so they know what other developers want and what problems they might encounter.

If you're a game developer and you're vibe coding your game, that's the worst kind of false good idea If you want to quickly build a prototype, use whatever framework you can find on marketplaces (itch io, Unity Asset Store, Fab Lab, etc.) #gamedev #indiedev
