...Yeah, that'd be my reading of it, these days. 😊 ...But also: the expressions in that scene make it plain, even leaving Vulcan hand porn out of it. —The question remains: how many minutes/hours separated these shots, and who let these two (or directed them) off the leash for just that long? 😏

Status report, “Local(ish) Politics” dep’t: Sweet holy Thoth but could this guy possibly be *more* vague and ineffective? 🫤
British Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Chris Bryant has said he is "very keen to get to some kind of solution" to the Drumcree dispute.

Mr Bryant said he has been speaking to as many people "as possible" and is "exploring every option to see whether there's a solution".

Asked for an update on his meetings, which he said he was prepared to continue tomorrow on return from the Labour conference in Liverpool, Mr Bryant said: "It's been positive so far today and sometimes people showing a bit of ankle, and I think an awful lot of people of good faith wanting to get to a good outcome.

"It's not quite clear what that will look like yet, but kind of - a bit through the mist - I can see maybe what that might look like if I can persuade everybody to sign up."

Asked if the determination around the parade was still live, Mr Bryant said he could not answer the question as he was not a lawyer.

He said there had been no requests from the PSNI to call off the parade under section nine of the Public Processions (Northern Ireland) Act 1998.

"I believe in the rule of law and I believe that the rule of law should be upheld.

"I'm trying to find a solution that really works for everybody so that everybody can hold their head up high – and it's tantalisingly just a bit far away at the moment, but we're working on it."

Meanwhile, taking a break from the cogitations regarding rose hips: as I'm contemplating a couple of heavy days of writing work ahead, I seem to be making a casserole. Potatoes, ground beef, homemade refried beans, Carbery Cracker cheddar. Pickled Jalapenos. Various spices. Etc. (1/2)

...So now I have to figure out what to do with these (about 350g of them). Jam? Jelly? Some kind of weird chutney? Considering my options. They still have to be washed, sorted, tailed (i.e. the fuzzy bottom bits cut off); then run through the food processor a bit to open them up for cooking. (2/3)

It goes back at least to the mid-1990s, though it seemed mostly to be used in-house at its publishers: not until the second wave of the Harcourt editions (like this one of Abroad) was it used on the books as brand labeling. The (earlier) delay on this labeling has always puzzled me a bit... (1/2)
